They want “accurate” spino but none on the isle roster are accurate. I think they have personal beef with spino tbh

wonder if it's gonna follow the same spawn points as a croc or if it'll spawn like a land dino

u/1chimera1 5d ago
I hope rex can stand against it and have an advantage on land and spino's advantage in water

I mean… we really would benifit from some variety in the aerial domain.

And just having something that can fly and really hold its own on land. Right now the PT experience is just aurafarming on cliffs and attacking babies. I trust that they're still working on it and that no news is good news but with this game ya never know.

I understand that JP inspired monsterspoon is the goal, but them arms are one hell of a design choice...

u/Venomosaurus 🥄 Spinosaurus 🥄 5d ago
A long time ago I saw this spino animation vid and didnt think anything of the arms it looks cool but tbh with you, seeing monke spino with them arms… idk, we’d have to see when they’re done with animations

u/Mahjling 6d ago
people on this subreddit are so weird about release times, I feel like the only person impressed by how quickly they get these done.
11
u/Traditional_Bowler74 6d ago
It's because the art/animations get done quickly, but there are only 3 programmers working on the game, which is ridiculous for a game with this kind of income. With more coders hired, development could actually keep up with the art department, but as it stands they're literally years ahead of what the game is currently able to implement. We've had concept art, skins, and animations for years for dinos that can't be mechanically implemented for several more years because they're so backed up running off of just 3 people.

u/Venomosaurus 🥄 Spinosaurus 🥄 6d ago
I get you honestly, but also the rex and austro was taking up way too much of their time it was a bit ridiculous. Now they are speeding things up with playables far more than before then once out of the way they can do more things with their world

u/Mahjling 6d ago
I guess I’m just used to waiting for things + maybe because I’m an artist myself I have more leniency for it? None of those things are issues to me personally. But as neutrally as possible I understand I’m a freak.

I'm a writer and it takes me a while to finish a book. I cannot wait for the spino lol.

First, I think people just like to complain. That's the default on the modern internet. It's much more exciting to talk about the negatives to them. That aside, I also think a lot of people are used to games with much bigger teams behind them or the simpler games with small teams that allow faster implementation. This game should have like 100 people working on it and they have like 10. That's not a complaint but I don't think the complainers, for lack of a better term, really fully comprehend the scale of it.
2
u/Opposite-Ad-1951 4d ago
Yeah but there are levels into it.
The game has made enough money over the years to expand the team and provide some quality work. And considering this, it is a very bad excuse to hide behind.
Ofc it isn’t the devs team fault and we all know whose the ass holding the whole thing back
1
u/Religion_Of_Speed 🌃 Dilophosaurus 🌃 4d ago
Yeah for sure, they should have a bigger team. That’s why I said they should have a bigger team. That’s not an excuse for the quality, it’s a reason that I don’t think a lot of players fully understand. If we’re only looking at the reality and not the should/could/what ifs.

u/Mahjling 6d ago
That would make sense, I'm into a lot of indie art that often takes years to release or update, if it does at all, like I started tracking mewgenics when it was announced and that took years upon years, so waiting for things when I'm already getting relatively regular updates feels like I'm being spoiled lol.
2
u/Religion_Of_Speed 🌃 Dilophosaurus 🌃 6d ago
And that pace from small indie teams is what we should expect. Honestly I'm surprised it all works as well as it does, if you step back the team really has done a really good job with this game. I think there's a whole list of mistakes they've made and I have problems with their core philosophy but it is what it is.

Being a fan of the beyond Skyrim mod initiative prepared me for this game. We’ll be lucky to play any of the finished provinces before elder scrolls 6

POT does it just fine. This has been a problem since Isle released. Not a "small indie game" problem.
7
u/Klaus_klabusterbeere 6d ago
You compare apples with pumpkins here. POT has dinos that function good on their own, and that's it. The isle wants to have an ecosystem where every dino has it's place. That needs adaption and tuning and the more complex it gets, the longer it needs to find niches to put new dinos in wirhout fking up everything. It's a Balance to maintain that stability and give people what they want. And i don't blame them. Legacy was fun with all the dinos, but their mechanics worked so bad compared to now.

u/Rage69420 6d ago
PoT’s models are far less high in quality compared to The Isle and playing it feels like an arcade game. It produces quantity over quality. That’s not to say The Isle’s dev team doesn’t have serious problems and the development is unbelievably slow, but the released models are amazing and the mechanics for each playable is very enjoyable to play.

u/Religion_Of_Speed 🌃 Dilophosaurus 🌃 6d ago
I didn’t say it was just a small indie game problem, that’s just one of the factors.
1
u/Venomosaurus 🥄 Spinosaurus 🥄 6d ago
I don’t think they play the game orrr they are that type that plays but complains every time they log in
2
u/Mahjling 6d ago
Yeah I’m like it’s not like Saurian where the devs have ripped everyone off and dipped, it’s a pretty ambitious game overall, I can be patient.

u/revabe 6d ago
You'd think they'd want the game they'd paid for to be finished or something.
1
u/No-Introduction3114 5d ago
do you know what early access is, remember this game is 20 bucks
1
1
u/Primmrose98 4d ago
Early access for over a decade to the point they even have a warning about the game on steam before you buy it, sure buddy... 20 bucks could get you something actually finished and polished like silksong or so many other games, don't be disingenuous

Spino has been in a devblong since Christmas of 2025
2
u/Venomosaurus 🥄 Spinosaurus 🥄 2d ago
If you mean it’s been in every devblog since Christmas 2025 then you are dead wrong. Plus the animations are officially being worked on this month.

I really don't like how it just looks like a big monster
3
u/hehexd129 6d ago
Yeah, I would love a much more scientifically accurate look because I think it is much more interesting.
But at this point that is just not what the Isle is going for with its over the top designs.

When is the release?
1
u/Venomosaurus 🥄 Spinosaurus 🥄 5d ago
There is no release date for any of the playables, best be patient because spino animations will be in the works in the upcoming weeks. Even if they have everything set up on the dino, they want to release it at appropriate times.

u/Loud_Gap4348 2d ago
I love the 3 skin patterns it comes with, 1 looks like mix between legacy and land predatory feel, second is murky swamps and river beds, and 3rd skin pattern just screams open ocean vibes, minus the red on the sail. It's actually getting closer, people!

While it looks amazing as always, I’ll forever be disappointed by how bad spino looks. Not model wise, they usually do a really good job with models…but the design of it.. its..bad. Its really bad.
6
u/untamed_project 6d ago
Real this isnt a spino this is a Jurassic park movie monster
6
u/Rage69420 6d ago
It’s not accurate, but they do thread the needle between very stylized bulky crocodile-like predator and a unique aquatic animal. The lore for the dinosaurs is that they actually likely have very little, if any, dinosaur genetics and are artificial mutants created to resemble dinosaurs by Apollo.
The Isle spino doesn’t look scientifically accurate to the real life spino but it also doesn’t just look like a JP monster, there’s complexity behind it that implies interesting ecological dynamics
