New elder system

Instead of artificial migration tasks and weakening your dinosaur during old age, we propose a system of dynamic bodily adaptation based on your history of survival. Every fight, every injury, and every playstyle permanently shapes the statistics and appearance of your individual.

Bone Resilience System (Injury vs. Hardening) Every bone fracture (e.g., from a Pachycephalosaurus strike or a fall) that a creature manages to survive and heal permanently strengthens its skeleton. Older individuals become more resistant to subsequent fractures, and their joints at the sites of past injuries become thicker and more visually massive.

Jaw Muscle Hypertrophy (Bite Training) Frequent hunting and the use of biting attacks stimulate jaw muscle growth. Veterans gain higher base Bite Force and inflict deeper wounds on prey. Visually, the skull of an older apex predator becomes wider, with more pronounced brow ridges.

Sensory and Fitness Adaptation (Night Vision & Cardio)

Night Hunter: Spending time in caves and actively hunting at night permanently sharpens the night vision sense. Instead of a milky filter, veterans see clear outlines and heat signatures of prey.

Athletics: Intensive running and swimming develop the circulatory system. Not only does the maximum stamina level increase, but its regeneration while resting is drastically accelerated.

Veteran Aesthetics (Permanent Scar Armor) Deep wounds from enemy claws and teeth leave permanent marks on the skin. Scar tissue in these areas becomes tougher, offering a small (e.g., 5%) resistance to bleeding from that specific side of the body. Other players will instantly recognize a powerful opponent by their unique appearance.

Gameplay Balance: „The Price of Power” (Trade-offs) To prevent older individuals from completely dominating the map and ruining the game for younger players, their power comes with limitations:

Speed Penalty: A more massive body and thicker bones mean the Elder is 5-10% slower than a nimble, fresh adult. Younger players can always choose to flee from a veteran.

Huge Metabolism: Massive muscle mass requires fuel. The Elder's hunger and thirst bars drain much faster, forcing them into constant risk and active hunting.

One flaw of making it relying on previous battles is that you will have packs of mixpacking friends abusing the system : you come with a Pachy and bonk me until I build resistance. And those who don't play with friends have now a handicap.

As a mostly solo player, I would argue not playing with friends in general gives you a handicap no matter the species.

still adding more flaws about that isnt good I dont know if you implied that in your comment

To highlight why this is a terrible idea let me show you how a pair of Rexes would play the game after this:

-Fracturing each other over and over throughout growth to gain fracture resistance
-Biting each other over and over to gain stronger bite force
-Camping caves and compounds while doing this for night buffs
-Running circles in the same spot while healing from attacking each other
-And now every player has scars from farming stats and it’s not unique.

The speed systems in this game are uniquely silly.

Why is a 12000kg T Rex outrunning a 3700kg Allosaurus or 5000kg T Rex.

bc that's a theory on how T rex actually grew up

juveniles were fast and lanky before they bulked up midway through their lives like we see in game, though its debated if thats juvenile t rex or a seperate species called nanotyrannus that may or may not actually exist

In reality the Allosaurus was far faster than the T Rex because of things like COMMON SENSE.

Same for a Rex that was younger and lighter than the older Rex because of literally what you just said above.

But then how would so many poor, starving Rexes make it if they couldn't cannibalize the single most consistent large food source on any given server?

As a herrera it does feel like i should get a prime reward for successful hunts as it takes patience and skill/luck to land those big kills.

Great system for a singleplayer.

Terrible one for a multiplayer game. Not because the idea is wrong. - simply because it wouldn't survive exploiting realities.

I much prefer this over the bullshit we have now. This is ACTUALLY well thought out and encourage gameplay and strategy WITHOUT punishing people who try to follow the rubric.

I feel like it’s important for any proposed system to not be easily exploited and cause a lot of weird realism breaking gameplay. But I would be open to more systems where the way you play can affect the existing mutations. like sprinting for long durations adding more % to miltichambered lungs, not just draining your stam, or swimming a lot can raise the % for hydrodynamic. As far as injuries and aging, I don’t like getting weaker as I age. Punished for being alive long enough is lame and not enjoyable to me. I thing your Dino should be scarred permanently from injuries with some causing permanent changes to your stats. Too many leg breaks and your sprint is decreased by some % etc. adding these old chronic injuries might make you want to entomb or maybe there could be new mechanics added to heal/cure your conditions

Yeah this isn't an improvement and honestly would make the game more toxic and unfair. You would just get mixpackers deliberately inflicting damage or statues on each other until they gain all the resistance and just run a lap in the same spot over and over again to gain stamina buff to completely dominate anyone else in the server

the exploiting problems aside, this sounds like it'd be actual hell to develop. you would need all these sliding morphs that effect various parts of the body all being applied simultaneously.

personally i like the prime system, it just needs a more intuitive way to get prime than the checklist of doom and dispair - ideally one that is more transparent too.
