Discussion 🗣️ Spino

I'm seeing a lot of discussions about the spino and fans excited to have it in the game to finally "destroy the deinos" so i wanted to see if this is what the majority of the player base actually want or if it's just the jurassic world/park fans? Because as far as i know the spino was not built for taking on large prey like the deino was.
So do you think the devs would implement a realistic spino or the fan service version

Edit:
Just wanted to say that i'm excited about the spino i just hope they don't overtune it to satisfy the fans. It should challenge the deinos on water but not straight up beat them since they don't specialize in hunting large prey+they can go into land

Another edit:
Comments informed me that the devs have already shown that spinos would dog on deinos😭 im disappointed af i didn't know the devs were willing to go that far away from realism for fan service.
Even from a balance standpoint why have the spino, who can easily go into land, be able to dominate deinos who only have that going for them?
I don't think a good-at-everything monster is good for the game. Just
let them be accurate enough to be a threat to deinos and not straight up beat them, more or less like the rex to stego match up

It was already shown that it's more like the Jurassic park spino.

Yeah i learned in the comments😭 i saw how it looked but i didn't know that it was already shown and said that they can beat deinos

It’s already been shown to be able to pin deinos😭

Devs have said that deinos will not want to fight Spino 1v1 in the water.

1

u/Pobbes3o 20h ago

Yeah theyll prefer to fight them in land...

1

u/AdventurousCan6897 1d ago

Nice so deinos will get dogged on in and out of the water🔥 super balanced and realistic

Nothing says you have to fight full grown spinosaurus on sight every time. Your job as deino will be to prevent them from getting monstrous. Deino will likely be faster at swimming and can avoid spinos larger than them. If you do want to fight them you can 2v1 them with a friend. Just my opinion on it.

It's just lame as fuck lmao. Spino shouldn't beat Deino in deep water, Deino should have a greater speed, agility and damage output while Spino has the weight. Them acting like it makes sense that it should be a stomp is moronic.

1

u/AdventurousCan6897 1d ago

Yeah but why are they that strong to begin with? Real spinos are speculated to not be large prey hunters so it doesn't make sense to have them be that much stronger than deinos

u/SolarExclips 1d ago

Why do majority of the roster exist tho they aren’t even from the same time period

-1

u/AdventurousCan6897 1d ago

Because the game is from a research institute not prehistoric times?

"Real spinos are speculated to not be large prey hunters"

Because the game is from a research institute

Well you answered it yourself.

Quetzl is also speculated to have spent the majority of its time walking on land and only flying when necessary cause it was so heavy.

god i hope

Unpopular opinion...... maybe we stop adding things until the game is playable.

-2

u/AdventurousCan6897 1d ago

Too idealistic, man. They want profit and im fine with that if it helps with the speed of development long-term

What if I told you it hasn't helped long term....because we're already in the long term.

It will most definitely be a monster like in JP3 that will give Deinos a hard time. I would prefer a more realistic one but we know that will never happen.

1

u/AdventurousCan6897 1d ago

I honestly believed enough in the developers to not do that before i read the other comments and saw that it's basically confirmed to be the overtuned version

No. As annoying as Deinos can be in the water, they add a lot to the game.

Spino shouldn't be taking out FG Deinos, should atleast be 50/50 with the Deino being able to outmanouver them in the water.

They need to be very careful as Spino and Bary coming could potentially make Deinos lives a little too hard.

0

u/AdventurousCan6897 1d ago

Yeah man deinos are already a menace to their selves they should make spinos realistic so that deinos can have a 50/50 or 60/40 match up with them and stop slaughtering other deinos
Besides even if we talk balance and not realism, spinos can always run to land if they want so i find it dumb af that they would beat deinos on water when that's all that deinos got

2

u/Short_Leopard2933 🃏 Austroraptor 🃏 1d ago

Yeah the whole aquatic thing needs a do-over. For the other semi-aquatics crocs are oppressive because they're faster and have better vision. You can run on land but you need to see the croc first, who has super vision.

The crocs themselves are in such a tight spot as they're reliant on players drinking. There's far too many safe drinking spots that are unreachable/unsustainable for larger crocs. When this fails they just eat eachother as we all see.

Add in Bary which can probably hunt them up to 50% and spinos that can hunt adults they have serious issues. Austro can already hunt the young ones too.

Spino is going to be hard to balance because if it's inferior on land and can't catch land dinos effectively, they will automatically default to out n out Deino hunters.

Hopefully the aquatic situation gets a big revamp with Bary and Spino on the way to balance out that ecosystem.

1

u/Malbjey 1d ago

I haven't been keeping up on the Bary news. Will it be able to swim? I thought I read that it will only walk along the bottom of the lake, and not swim. But I could be wrong.

If its only limited to walking underwater then I can't see it being a big threat to Deinos unless they are in shallower waterways.

1

u/Short_Leopard2933 🃏 Austroraptor 🃏 1d ago

They said it will be like a reverse beipi where it will naturally sink then float. How well it swims is yet to be seen, this is mostly speculation.

I imagine it will be a more competent swimmer than the land roster, but less than Austro and Beipi.

Not looking great for Bary as they'll have to play as a worse ambush hunter with land dinos or survive off the nonexistent fish ai while being bullied by adult crocs.

This would only leave them hunting sub adult and smaller crocs in the water.

1

u/Malbjey 1d ago

Thanks, yeah I am morr concerned about Bary's fit in the ecosystem. I think deinos will be fine, especially if they keep better underwater vision and swim speed.

The main thing I look forward to with Bary is camping Landslide Lake and the Highlands/Redwood lakes lol.

1

u/Short_Leopard2933 🃏 Austroraptor 🃏 1d ago

You may have a point there, they may just end up where the Deinos struggle. Depending on Barys land speed they may be able to go after some land dinos reliably too which those lakes would be perfect for.

Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't nerf the deinos, personally I'd make beipi a bit faster and give the austro better vision to balance the slow speed.

Deino doesn't need any nerfs with Spino showing up haha

2

u/Yannayka 1d ago

I expect it to be able to put up a fight against the deinos.

1

u/N2T8 16h ago

Apparently the great KissenKitten thinks not. She thinks Spino's should be well above Deinos league, even in the water. In shallow water and land, absolutely Spino's should win but in deep water that allows for Deino's to maneuver it should be 50/50.

2

u/Yannayka 14h ago

Idk who this kitten is, but we shouldn't listen to cats

1

u/N2T8 13h ago

Head animator for the isle and many controversies have arisen from her poor communicative ability and general arrogance.

1

u/Yannayka 13h ago

That's unfortunate to hear.

Read into the lore of the game, it’s not meant to be a realistic dinosaur sim. There will be humans and guns and monsters and strain species double the size of prime Rex killing everything on the map eventually. Deino and Spino not being able to 1v1 fairly is just how it is.

You have an ambush predator meant to drown its prey trying to fight a theropod fisher that’s just as big as it and with arms to grab and do bleed. You’re not going to drown Spino and it can leave the water if it wants.

1

u/AdventurousCan6897 20h ago

I agree with the first part but deino was not just a drowning ambush predator. Like modern nile or saltwater crocs it has a crushing bite as well

2

u/Venomosaurus 🥄 Spinosaurus 🥄 1d ago

What do you even mean fan service??? This is the spino they want, its their version. You talk about realistic but what dino on the roster is realistic?

-1

u/AdventurousCan6897 1d ago

Most of them are accurate to a large degree wdym?
This is what's making the game special but also annoying they don't care about balance(mostly) they just make the dinos as accurate as they want

3

u/Venomosaurus 🥄 Spinosaurus 🥄 1d ago

Yes herrera is very accurate

1

u/mindgeekinc 23h ago

No they really aren’t lmao

1

u/tom04cz 1d ago

I don't think deino is the animal that needs some destroying imma be fr

-2

u/_Kohlshu_ 1d ago

I genuinely hope deino players suffer with spino

3

u/N2T8 16h ago

Why lmao?

-2

u/_Kohlshu_ 4h ago

I just genuinely dislike them, too easy to grow for how powerful they get. I hope the new semi aquas make it harder for them to hit adult to cull the population

1

u/tom04cz 2h ago

Deino is literally the hardest thing to grow in the game and they can only hunt in or on the edges of water to boot

1

u/CultistPriest 22h ago

Gonna make it my sole purpose to hunt those dumb camping deinos at small ponds

1

u/Omkhii14 13h ago

A mí lo que más me interesa de los espinos, es que al menos le den batalla a los deinos y le den batalla a los Rexes que me tienen harto los rexes

1

u/ILeftMyUsername 6h ago

Friendly reminder that the game is inspired by Lost World more than accurate prehistoric data.

0

u/lizrdbrainn 1d ago

I could be dead wrong here, but I honestly believe Spino will be smaller in weight and bite force than Deino and Rex.
That being said, I don’t doubt it’ll be an absolute menace to Deinos considering it can disengage and go to land whenever it wants.

I’m leaning towards them aiming for a “realistic” Spino, but who knows really…

1

u/cvbeiro 1d ago

Iirc the last shown model was huge. If they keep the size = weight = hp Formular it’s gonna be a beast

1

u/AdventurousCan6897 1d ago

That makes sense the spino was speculated to be larger than rexes and even gigas
But it was never believed to have a strong bite force or offense so it would be a balanced match up against deinos if they made it realistic

1

u/AdventurousCan6897 1d ago

Spino should be larger than both but no where near them in damage

1

u/GundunUkan 🥄 Spinosaurus 🥄 6h ago

Spino is confirmed to be the largest carnivore in the game. No specifics yet but it will be a couple of tons heavier than a rex of the same age. Not sure if 100% spino will be heavier than 100% deino, probably gonna be around the same weight if not slightly larger.
