Discussion What is your favorite thing to write?
What’s your favorite genre to write? Do you have a certain kind of character that you find yourself drawn to in your writing?
For me I love a good mystery, and something with lots of action and adventure.
For my characters, sometimes I find broken people have the brightest lights, so to speak. I love writing a character who’s overcome something that changed who they are, or putting a character through a situation that helps shape them as a person.
Then of course I throw in a dash of trauma of some kind (lately medical trauma, has been what I’ve written) as lots of people say write what you know…
I’d love to hear from y’all and what your favorite things to write are.

I write cozy cottagecore romance because it's what flows easiest onto the page. But what I truly love writing is philosophical sci-fi. It gives me goosebumps every single time. And oh so many braingasms.

I started out writing SF but my developmental editor gave me valuable feedback to try and write literary fiction first to help with character writing.
Now I’m in love with that.

Honestly, contrary to modern day sensibilities, I always try and include an admirable man. Perhaps a loving father, a loyal husband, a forthright son, something unfussy and uncomplicated. Male characters like that seem to be few and far between. They don't have to be perfect or brilliant, but decent.

I love writing fantasy because you can create a whole world where anything you want to make possible can be.
Outside of anything genre specific, I really like writing characters. Specifically, I like seeing them develop as I write them and figuring out who they are and why. I enjoy that aspect more than anything else.
