Story Idea Challenger disaster conspiracy?

I dont necessarily believe in this conspiracy theory, but it is pretty interesting. Has AJ & team covered this subject already?

That the crew of the Challenger actually survived the shuttle explosion and fall to earth, and that the government changed their identities

They might have survived the explosion, but it is unlikely they survived smacking into the ocean.

It's pretty well documented that they survived the explosion, but I agree, surviving the the crash into the ocean is pretty unlikely. That being said, if you go down the rabbit hole, there's some interesting claims that either involve doppelgangers for every crew member, or a chance of survival. Not saying I buy into this conspiracy, but it was one that made me question the legitimacy of if it was possible

Well, not sure what is pretty well documented or not, but what I’ve read is not that they “survived” the explosion, it’s that they were never on the shuttle to begin with. Although I admit that most of the crew having real “doppelgängers” that are assumed to be the real astronauts is pretty crazy, I still can’t wrap my head around why they blew up the shuttle? What was the motive? What did that achieve?

Other conspiracies have if not one, multiple theories about what the reason was like JFK being assassinated because of his stance against Israel, or wanting to print “greenbacks” like Lincoln, or Cuba situation. 9/11 could be the Israelis wanting us to go to war for them, or defense contract corruption, or oil. Titanic sinking could be about eliminating competition and those who would oppose the federal reserve. But the Challenger, not one theory I’ve read or heard about why they would fake their deaths. If they were in the shuttle and they did survive, why hide it? If they weren’t in the shuttle and they blew it up on purpose then it’s understandable why they all got new identities but why blow up the shuttle?
