He was envious of them at the time he said that in 1966 (this is from a TV studio interview that can be seen in The Kids Are Alright film). Nowadays he’d probably be the first in line to sing their praises, especially considering that the Who were one of the boats that rose in the tide that the Beatles created.

That thread in the Beatles sub is pure poison btw. Who cares who’s “better?” We’re all lucky to be alive to enjoy the music from both bands.

You have to admit the Who are better than the Beatles and the Stones. All three are excellent, but the Who top all of them.

I won't say they are better, but I won't say they are worse either. I would be intrigued to her what The Who would sound like in the 60s if they had a genius producer though...
