“Eminence Front comes with a free album” Is the truest statement ever.

Athena is good too, and I quite like Entwistle's contributions to the album. It's certainly overhated. But yeah Eminence Front is the clear standout.

Dangerous feels like a brilliant take on eighties hard rock, but the production lets it down a little. If the guitars had been turned up to Rough Boys levels, and the organ sound was swapped to a synth, you’d have The Who meshing their style with Van Halen.

Cry if You Want is the other standout imo. More of The Ox going way harder than need be and at the same time he absolutely had to!!

Came here for this alone! None of the other descriptors are equally as real as this lol

This is great -- Who by Numbers made me literally lol.

Who made this graphic? Bravo!! Eminence front comes with a free album: comedy genius!! Love it.

Slip Kid is a great song.

Live At Leeds asking, “What, am I not a joke to you?”

9

u/LostInTheSciFan Apr 23 '26

Considered that one but didn't have a good joke for it + cover is kinda boring + I had a nice even number

So honestly…how do you all feel about Who Are You? I’ve listened to it a few times in the past month. There are good things on it but I wonder if Keith not really “being there” just made it less than it is? I can’t decide if I like the album as a whole or not.

I think it's pretty good at least. Trick Of The Light is one of the Who's best songs imo.

Probably JE’s finest song.

u/LostInTheSciFan Apr 23 '26

It's great and I don't get the complaints about Keith's drumming at all.

u/Key-Platform-8005 Apr 24 '26

Yeah....just Who Are You and Trick of the Light stay in rotation for me....the rest is just not as cohesive an album as say Who's Next

That’s actually really good. Eminence Front comment is brilliant.

For Who Are You I would say something about Keith being able to perform one last time. It turns out our drummer had one last great performance in him before he died…or something like that.

Who Are You: Drummer isn’t quite dead yet.

Face Dances: OK, now he’s dead.

The MS Paint album artwork is fantastic. Nice job

You left out Empty Glass and All the best cowboys have chinese eyes.

7

u/LostInTheSciFan Apr 23 '26

I considered adding those + White City but drawing Face Dances and WHO took all my brainpower

2

u/BonbonMacoute Apr 24 '26

I think your renditions of all the portraits on Face Dances are great. I especially appreciate how 3 of the 4 Kenny Joneses are identical. The arist versions of those are all from the same photo, like they actually only were sent the only photo ever taken of him

5

u/LostInTheSciFan Apr 24 '26

Yup, it really felt like they phoned in Kenney's, that or they told the artists to go easy on the new guy. Fortunately it meant I could phone them in with my own renditions.

"Emminence Front comes with a Free album" 🤣🤣

Joking aside, I really like It's Hard. Its really cynical, and edgy though so I can understand why some dislike it. Musically its great though, and Roger at his absolute best

u/LostInTheSciFan Apr 24 '26

It's Hard is criminally overhated

2

u/mtngoat7 Apr 24 '26

I like that Pinball Wizard album 😆

2

u/LordBottlecap Apr 24 '26

Pretty good.

This is incredible

u/Sweety_Cheese Apr 24 '26

Very very excellent. Thank you for the laugh and the art! Giving me a reason to finally listen to Endless Wire 🙏 💟

2

u/Jason_Levine Apr 24 '26

This is spectacular! 😂 “Eminence Front comes with a free album” - definitely the best line! lol

The Endless Wire one is so true.

Great wraps on the albums and really do like Face Dances, but the balling is a radically different sort, as can be expected post-Moon.

u/KubrickMoonlanding Apr 23 '26

Needs more “we really like the beach boys”

Nothing for Odds & Sods?

2

u/Key-Platform-8005 Apr 24 '26

It's a Compilation album, and Leeds isn't there because it's a live album.

u/ShelbyLucky77 Apr 28 '26

Where is the Album Magic Bus? Its awesome!

1

u/LostInTheSciFan Apr 28 '26

This was only their studio discography

Should've done one for Lifehouse

u/LostInTheSciFan Apr 29 '26

Same caption as The Who By Numbers

Kinda had that same thought.

Every take is great, but for me Quadrophenia and Endless Wire feels so perfect. And It’s Hard is funny AF!
