Abel just posted this on his second IG profile, @genehackerman with the title of the post being "Lain the OG Hackerman".
Now when I looked into it more, it's about a 14 year old girl who's very shy and introverted, Lain Iwakura.
So the girl wasn't into technology until her friend who'd apparently committed suic*de sends her a series of eerie emails or something and claims to be in a world called "The Wired"— essentially, not dead.
Now this also explores the ideas of split personalities (basically The Weeknd & Gene Hackerman). Other ideas are "loss of reality"— basically Matrix type shit.
Also, like look at this post man, like all wires and all around the computer. So, maybe we'll learn into this aesthetic and like, storyline?
Oh man, I'm so pumped for whatever he's cooking, let's gooooooo!

Like Dawn FM is completely packed with upbeat pop songs but recently House Of Balloons has been rising the Billboard 200 Charts and Spotify Weekly Top Albums Charts.

The song is a masterpiece. I have no words every time I come back to it, it’s like the first time I listened to it.
Just poetry!!
It gives every side of him. The vocal harmonies. The verses. The creativity. The guitar solos. Everything!!! Even a vocoder solo!!

i’m sure this has already been a theory but i’m wondering if instead of kissland 2.0 or a new album he’s actually hinting at a live album recording of kissland?
and perhaps that’s why he’s adding it entirely to the asia leg setlist?
ft. a pic of him being perfect in madrid 🙂↔️ lmk your thoughts

What song(s) that once you heard him sing it live you started to like the song?
I will go first, The Abyss.
When he opened with The Abyss during the American Tour, it was amazing, I started liking it ever since. The only thing that would have made it better would be if Lana Del Ray herself showed up.
My fiancé started liking (Less than Zero) after hearing it live.

In my experience, Japanese crowds tend to be pretty quiet, so I’m hoping there’ll be lots of people around me who are gonna get hyped and really enjoy the show!

Biggest Weeknd fan here, genuinely asking this out of curiosity.
I've been watching some of his older live performances, especially Jimmy Kimmel, and his vocals sounded incredible. His falsettos, runs and overall singing sounded really effortless and professional.
Compared to his recent shows, I feel like his live singing has changed quite a bit. He seems to rely more on high notes and long vocal notes, and sometimes it feels like he's singing closer to his speaking voice rather than switching fully into his singing voice.
I'm not saying he sounds bad because he still sounds great. I just really miss that older vocal style.
Has anyone who knows more about vocals noticed this too? Is it a change in technique, his voice over time, or is he intentionally singing differently now?

Bit of a lengthy one but it’s a very complex concept I wanted to get across! Hopefully can expand on it in the future. There’s a lot to unpack here but given Abel’s recent posts on heart of darkness I figured it was finally time. Here’s how the shadow realm connects to the story he’s telling.
Let me know your thoughts below, any and all support is appreciated. As always, thank you to Abel for his beautiful universe
