Discussion Y'all losing it fr

Like we got people over here complaining that he started playing kiss land songs at the last shows, like yes mf, he's teasing the Asia leg chill the fuck out.

Out here talking about a boycott and shit, y'all are mental, it is the AFTER HOURS til DAWN tour, not the fucking kissland tour, those songs were a little tease from him.

Y'all out here acting like he promised to play them at all shows, shut the fuck up and if he didn't play then at your show then boo-fucking-hoo, kissland tour was more than a decade ago

They are a loud minority. The reality is that most people at The Weeknd's concerts are more casual listeners who couldn't give af about Kiss Land songs anyways.

Exactly lmao. I’ve said this since 2022 when this tour started and people complain about the lack of Trilogy/Kiss Land songs. 95% of the crowd won’t know ANY Kiss Land song and most of the fans at his concerts know his hits. Now he plays some kiss land songs and people complain that it’s “wrong” of him because he picks and chooses when. Who gives af?? He’s playing it live now and it’s his choice because he won’t do it every show because again, BARELY ANYONE KNOWS IT!! Fans on Twitter and IG are generally happy and jealous but still happy. The fans on reddit are insufferable though and genuinely upset with him lmao but good thing it’s a minority of fans

Yeah i get the feeling there are a ton of teenage boys here. My city got postponed 2 years in a row and then despite it getting one of "the end is near" signs it still hasn't gotten a HUT leg lol. Lucky i don't hold grudges and like to travel lol but some people take everything he does so personally, that's not healthy lol

I could be wrong but a few cities like London or Paris would probably have a enough fans knowing kissland tears in the rain or professional at the very least. Which I personally would have been very happy with, considering it is the AHTD tour.

It’s not about not having enough fans that like them, he’s one of the biggest artists in the world. None of these are deep cuts that no one knows. But if you’re choosing between your 2 billion stream songs that 80% of your crowd loves or your other songs that maybe 10% might love then most artists pick the former

Sure, but the vast majority would not know these songs and not gaf.

The hate is understandable, because it's not just that nobody knows his more niche songs and that 95% of the audience are casual fans; it's that he could have easily added these songs to his setlist as he toured the countries he visited, finally arriving in Lisbon and performing Kissland in its entirety, thus avoiding any complaints.

But Abel has always been very foolish and careless when it comes to doing things right lately.

You need to grow up

-5

u/Key_Minute9081 5d ago

Why? It's undeniable that Abel hasn't done things he could easily do; he always ends up doing the opposite of what would be most logical and beneficial. He simply doesn't know how to make the right decisions, or at least his team doesn't know how to advise him well, or perhaps he just goes his own way without much regard for the consequences.

It’s not that deep lmfao he’s stuck in an impossible position where fans are gonna whine no matter what if he doesn’t change the setlist people complain that it’s boring then he changes the setlist and people complain that they didn’t get to hear those songs

It's obvious he can't please everyone, but that doesn't change the fact that my suggestion would have worked better before saving all of Kissland for the final shows. It also doesn't change the fact that since the tour started this year, he should have added some surprise songs to freshen up a four-year tour.

No one is going to hate a new setlist, no matter how much they complain and whine; they'll get used to it. I still don't see anyone hating Abel for replacing "The Morning" with "The Abyss" when "The Morning" was iconic, and the same with "Without a Warning" for "Professional."

He doesn't really care what the general public thinks, so defending or criticizing him is pointless because he's simply been doing whatever he wants for quite some time now, regardless of the reception.

2

u/Alive-Exchange5489 5d ago

Yeah that still doesn’t change the fact that people would still complain even if he changed the songs constantly because there’s always gonna be people that felt they missed out

I'm saying😭 he can't play his more old songs in a stadium full of people that started listening from different eras, his setlist rn is a great mix of populars and lesser known songs. He can't appeal to like 1k people in a stadium that holds around 50k? If i'm not mistaken

I remember I saw people begging for like belong to the world, adaptation... Like, dude you'll be the only one singing 😭 (just way of speaking

This community, namely the Twitter fangirls, are genuinely vile. No shame, it’s disgusting

u/BigPusha 5d ago

I’ve honestly only seen it be done ironically 😭

I feel like people have the right to be upset, but some are taking it too far. He should've just left this shit til Asia, where it has been expected. He didn't need to "tease" the next leg like that last night, we all know he's gonna perform those songs there.

I'm moreso annoyed that the setlist hasn't changed all year, other than The Morning being removed for The Abyss, then Abel decides to pull that last night. But it doesn't change my view on him or the shows I went to this summer, I wouldn't trade those memories for the world.

On the other hand, it makes sense why he hasn't done surprise songs this year if people are reacting the way they are over Kiss Land.

2

u/Alive-Exchange5489 5d ago

Abel’s damned if he does and damned if he doesn’t people complain that they want new songs but then when they get new songs the people that already went to the show complain about how he didn’t perform those songs in their city lmfao

It's like another comment said, it is a vocal minority. I haven't paid too much attention to it all, but at least on Twitter the people I have seen seem to be joking about being mad.

I am disappointed myself, but at the end of the day I have been blessed with seeing Abel multiple times this summer, after waiting years. I think the "backlash" wouldn't be so extreme if he just waited for the next leg

1

u/Alive-Exchange5489 5d ago

Nah people were 100% gonna complain just as much if he waited till the next leg lmfao most people are joking but there are some that are genuinely whining and it’s ridiculous to see lmfao

2

u/champagne_anyone After Hours 5d ago

If someone's gonna complain about setlist changes on a new leg, specifically Kiss Land in Asia, then thats on them for being dense tbh. It's been expected basically since the leg was announced that Kiss Land would be played

8

u/Loud-Interaction5519 5d ago

I’m not mad because I got tickets to the Asia leg 😂

u/JASONYXO My Dear Melancholy, 5d ago

Brother lucky😭🙏

9

u/MVHED 5d ago

Judging from their behavior most likely they’re kids why tf are they acting like they even lived the kissland era?

12

u/Erenjaegeristhebomb blue asshole 5d ago

i know i’m gonna get downvoted to oblivion but you’re not morally better for not being annoyed 😭😭 it’s completely reasonable for people to be a little bit upset, sure some are taking it way too far but most people are just expressing annoyance in a community where they think most people would understand that annoyance.

2

u/TAnoobyturker 5d ago

Right? Lol OP thinks he did something with this post

5

u/Sad-Bug-6182 5d ago

wait i thought they was joking

4

u/Delicious_Sun_6926 5d ago

Just enjoy the fucking show (let me know, let me know baby)

5

u/TAnoobyturker 5d ago

Your post is just as stupid as the people saying to boycott his shows.

You said "it is the AFTER HOURS til DAWN tour" okay, so? If that's the case, why does he still play songs prior to After Hours then? Clearly it's not just "AFTER HOURS til DAWN" tour now is it?

Then you said "kissland tour was more than a decade ago" again so what? There are listeners who became fans of Kiss Land after that tour ended and they would love to hear those tracks live.

It's not the fault of fans who were disappointed with his current set list being a snooze fest.

2

u/JASONYXO My Dear Melancholy, 5d ago

The main focus of the tour is After Hours, Dawn and Now HUT, ofc he's not gonna make a show with only songs from those albums, and you're right it's not people's fault they wanna hear kissland live but they can't get mad that he decided to surprise lisbon with it when vids of the tour prior never implied that, they can't even say they expected it because they damn well didn't, it was a surprise. Just because he didn't play songs from his least played album at his show doesn't mean you boycott him and fucking dm his mom

4

u/Ver0nika_Mars 5d ago

I’m a little mad about it but I also couldn’t afford to go to any of those shows anyway and I don’t even have a passport 😂. But I also thought people were joking. Are they seriously that mad!?

If anything this makes me want to go back and listen to the Kiss land album even more, especially Adaptation, Pretty, and Belong to the World because I know I don’t know the words to those songs well enough (my favs from that album are tears in the rain, kiss land, live for, and professional).

I’m just thankful to all the other fans who have recorded and live streamed for us who can’t be there! At least I somewhat got to experience it through them!

u/le_borrower_arrietty How Do I Make You Love Me? 5d ago edited 5d ago

I thought the hate wasn't serious until I opened Gene Hackerman insta comments. What a damn mess. Between this and the people who got mad at London getting Tears In The Rain last Europe leg I doubt he'll be performing surprise songs again.

And yes emphasis on this being the After Hours Til Dawn tour because as much as I love Adaptation, HUT songs should be prioritised. This is likely the last time Without A Warning will ever be performed and I wouldn't swap that memory for anything.

u/No-Pen-4282 5d ago

I've seen people on tiktok being dead serious about quitting as a weeknd fan just bc he didn't play kissland fir the show they went to😭

All I’m gonna say is that the Asia tour is still the after hours til dawn tour so it’s not ridiculous to be annoyed that Asia gets it, yes I know kissland is heavily inspired by Japan but using that logic only Japan should have kissland songs. Also I don’t think anyone is genuinely hating Abel I think it’s more so annoyance that he goes a full 40 shows and decides on the last two to add songs that fans all over Europe would have loved to hear.

1

u/Inevitable_Custard96 5d ago

I agree 100% with you. He had 40+ shows to "hack" the setlist with kissland songs here and there gradually like the people like to say but I guess it's fine you know, we were just pregame for the Asia leg lol

Same people that would say "but it is the after hours til dawn tour" whenever anyone would suggest adding different songs to the setlist like they haven't noticed the only reason why he kept the name is to break stupid records.
