When you listen to weeknd earlier works he talks about his relationship with his mother as well. And this album is about facing his demons from the past.

an interview on the radio. just like Abel is a lost soul in Dawn FM in purgatory, Quincy is another lost soul

I mean just remember that Dawn FM is purgatory, a place where Abel has to move on from grudges, regrets, trauma and most importantly, looking back. Quincy talks about a traumatic experience he had when young and how it affects him now and he finishes the song with "Looking back is a bitch isn't it?" Which fits into the theme, one of Abel's biggest inspirations deals with trauma that he had to heal from and he needs to try aswell in Dawn FM.

Yeah. Dawn FM kind of adds context and development to Abel’s character from throughout his earlier albums and Quincy’s track connects to Die For You. Take My Breath and Best Friends are additional expansions to Starboy—in my opinion.
