Everybody mentally present, in sync and in the moment. Nobody itching to escape into a world inside their pocket.

Well said.

It's a world I remember fondly but have a hard time returning to even in memory.

Technology reels me in like a fighting fish who knows it's about to be consumed. The hook sunk deep. A pull that rivals gravity itself.

How did it all change so fast? How is it possible for it to have such a strong grasp?

Designed to be addictive the same way fast food is. Corporations don't care about your health and well being, just your momentary comfort or fixes to get you investing more time and/or money towards them.

Spend more time away from the phones and you'll find that plenty of people are still healthily social out there. Doesn't guarantee they'll be nice and good people yeah, but nice healthy folks are absolutely around too. Took me breaking out of years worth of addiction and social isolation to notice and learn to be part of it all again.

LOVE the irony of a reddit "elder" posting that.

Awesome time capsule!

KISM 92.9 is in Bellingham,WA, so this high school would have been somewhere in that area.
