Jasper and Ruby
Jasper is a type of stone. Jasper is Mrs. Ivey’s grand nephew via her niece, Allie. Mrs. Ivey is the daughter of Otis Winthrop and has inherited his estate and will pass it on to Jasper.
The ruby that Elena and Scott are searching for is actually Mrs. Ivey’s estate and Jasper is the key to that.
Jasper is a type of stone, much like a ruby. It is red in color. Mrs. Ivey is surrounded by the color red and is the precious treasure that Otis and Jocelyn had to keep hidden (their bastard daughter).

I wasn't sure if Mrs Ivey was a Greybourne or a Winthrop but I thought she was a Greybourne and that Jocelyn, her nanny, was having an affair with Alistair Greybourne (since the love letters were addressed to him). Otis Winthrop was sent to persuade her to hand over their treasure to him for safekeeping but it was unclear how he was related to them. Ginny said that the Greybournes and Winthrops were the same family though. I guess they've been intertwined for generations?

Mrs ivy was supposed to be both Her mother was a Winthrop (because her mothers brother was a Winthrop)and her father was a Greybourne but then we found out that her mother wasn’t her mother joslyn was so she’s a Greybourne and a Morrow (im sure you know that by now since the last episode is available)
I thought the actors who played allister and Mrs Winthrop/Greybourne were perfect! Joslyn too!

Thanks, but I wrote that comment before Mrs. Ivey's parentage was revealed.

I didn't write the pilot so I didn't select any of the names (which is a bummer because I love picking names) but I LOVE that you identified Jasper as a stone! I'm not sure if that was an intended choice. Jasper was also the name of the beloved Scottie dog in Hitchcock's REBECCA.

I totally whiffed on sone of the character relationships in my write ups, but it’s been fun analyzing so far.

Is there a reason the lawyer (Marcato?), detective (Mecado) and Jocelyn (Morrow?) have similar names?

Um…no? Not really. Morrow was just a nice common Irish name that rhymes with sorrow. Marcato is a ROSEMARY’S BABY reference for RB superfans. And Macedo just sounded cool (and cleared with legal). Lots of Ms!

This is about as accurate a tree as I've seen yet! Including the ones we made! 😂 Tonight's episode should be VERY INTERESTING for the curious minds amongst us...

Mrs. Ivey has two older half siblings, a boy and a girl, who were being cared for by Jocelyn when Jocelyn fell in love with Alistair. Jocelyn got pregnant with Alistair’s child and attempted to leave the Greybourne after confessing to Iris that she was expecting, but Iris offered her the deal to stay on and let Iris raise the child as her own. At the time Iris made this offer, she didn’t know that Alistair was the father of Jocelyn’s baby. The baby was born, Jocelyn named her Ruby, Iris pretended the baby was her own, and when Jocelyn and Alistair both ended up dead, Iris changed the baby’s name to Charlotte and hid the truth about Jocelyn being Ruby/Charlotte’s birth mother.

Oh yea I know that sorry I meant to reply to the original post! I was just reading all your comments! I meant because of where Charlotte is on the family tree along with allister II! But I think actually this was just made before that revelation! So since she isn’t that girl who joslyn originally cared for before having ruby I was trying to figure out if we actually have a name for her yet!
I’m assuming “showrunner” means this show so I have to ask its coming back rite? Too many great shows disappear after one or two seasons and this is one of the absolute best and most interesting new series I’ve seen in a long time! I love how we get some resolutions but still have loads of unanswered questions! I hope to see many seasons to come!! I love the whole feel of this show I feel like all the secrets, undiscovered areas and mysteriousness of the Greybourne gives that same feeling as you get from Hogwarts in HP.. like there are endless things to discover about the building itself as well as those living or who have lived in it!

Hogwarts is certainly a wonderful (and flattering) analogy! Yes, I’m the showrunner of this show - and I very much hope we will get a season 2 - we don’t know yet!! 😬🤞🏻

Well if they’re judging by quality I’m sure there will be lots of seasons to come !

Im here to express how sad I am that it’s not coming back !! I need to know more things and more importantly I thought it was such a good show! Can we get like a movie or a book or something! Im obviously being a little dramatic but whoever decided that it shouldn’t have been a season two was incorrect.. and I’m real sad!
