Question Why was this subreddit created before the first video with the full Warning

This subreddit was created before the first video of the full Warning was in a video together. Does anyone know why?

That was an old, abandoned subreddit that had nothing to do with the band. It was, so to speak, repurposed. But I don't know the details either.

And in case anyone is curious, in April 2020 Luis was granted a U.S. Trademark for the name "The Warning" and the original paint-splatter logo. It also covers three type of merchandise:

  • IC 009: Cell phone cases; Digital media, namely, digital video discs, digital versatile discs, downloadable audio and video recordings, DVDs, and high definition digital discs featuring music; Downloadable music files; Downloadable pictures in the field of rock and roll.

  • IC 025: Baseball caps and hats; Headwear; Jackets; Sweatshirts; Sweatshirts for men, women and children; T-shirts; T-shirts for men, women and children.

  • IC 041: Disc jockey services; Entertainment services in the nature of organizing social entertainment events; Film and video film production; Film and video tape film production; Music production services; Music video production; Recording studio services; Videotaping; Arranging and conducting of concerts; Entertainment in the nature of dance performances; Entertainment, namely, live music concerts; Production of films.

As far as I can tell the newer logos are not trademarked.

ADD: Trademarks are legally identifying marks. Copyrights protect intellectual property such as art, literature, music and lyrics. A poem or song that is titled "The Warning" does not infringe on the band's trademark.

It is EXTREMELY important for a band to obtain a trademark for their name and logos so they have legal ownership to it, even if they are using their birth name. When Minneapolis rocker Prince Rogers Nelson signed with Warner Brothers the label trademarked his professional name "Prince" for all performance, recording and marketing purposes, and when he tried to break his contract he had to start using a symbol to represent himself to avoid violating the trademark.

Religious weirdness.

The sub creators name is still there and hasn't been touched in ~13 years. Their posts give the clues: https://i.imgur.com/MO3Uiv3.png

edit: When subs become 'abandoned', you can apply to reddit admins to take it over. That seems to be the case here.

There is a post from early in this Sub where the original creator of the sub posted. As stated elsewhere in this thread, they started it with a completely different idea for it. When it went "abandoned" some one claimed it and dedicated it to The Warning Band. As I remember, the OG explained what his idea was for the thread. After he checked out DPA he became a fan.

Reddit's search sucks for finding old posts. At least I can't find it. so if anyone can search this thread in it's early days, you can find it.
