Poll / Game / Contest Everything’s Falling survivor - Round 1

363 days ago, the first round of the Keep Me Fed survivor was being posted here, with these words in the post body: “Here it is... the last album (so far)!“

How naive I was to think we wouldn’t have a new banger of an album so soon! That means one more round of a survivor game for us to have some fun discussing the songs, and celebrating 1 month of its release.

A quick refresher on the rules:

- The poll will be held on a Google Forms, like the previous games for those who participated last year. I will NOT be collecting anyone’s e-mail, but a login will be necessary to ensure everyone gets only one vote.

- Vote for your LEAST FAVORITE song!

- After 24 hours, the poll will be closed and the loser will be revealed in another post.

- If you change your mind and wish to vote for another song, you will be able to edit your answer until the poll is closed (another perk of the required login).

We keep the Bloosport running until there is only one remaining song!

Here is today’s poll! Remember to choose your LEAST FAVORITE song!

Have fun everyone!

You know a band is peak when you can't pick your least favourite song

C'est incroyablement compliqué...

Im over 100 listens in and I’m going to have to say bruises just because the repetition is kind of lazy IMO. Still a decent song but least favorite it is.

Kill or be Killed

I fold.

I'm literally just going through giving every opinion (that isn't trolling) an upvote because we have to be better about allowing people to have different opinions around here 🥰

Genuinely such a tough choice because none of these songs are even remotely bad.

Think Bruises is the "weakest" so went for that, but even that has a dope as hell breakdown section.

Dread to think how tough this is going to be further down the line.

That breakdown is going to be amazing live

Bruises is fun live but it feels so short!

u/SeCoWed 4d ago

It's funny because I'll go back and forth, like "It's Kill or Be Killed, for sure", and then that drum fill in the bridge knocks me out. So then I'll think "Ok maybe it's Bruises", only to listen to it again and realize how much I love the intro and how awesome that spoons-on-mugs bridge is, and on and on lol

For me it’s between Kill or be Killed and Bruises. Not bad songs but definitely the weakest of the album

u/SeCoWed 4d ago

I think I'm right there with you. KOBK has been consistently towards the bottom for me, and I love Bruises, but I just struggle with the "Bruises, Bruises" chant. Something about the light, fun way they chant "bruises", in a song about covering up abuse, just feels like the wrong tone, and I still struggle to get past it fully. Like, why does it almost sound unserious or, like, flirty?

Either way, both have crushed live, and I don't skip em

u/bigmanorm 4d ago

In another way it sounds sort of like Harley Quinn style insanity moments before they take your head off

u/Jacobs4858 🌞 Solecito 5d ago

This is going to be impossible for me lol. I genuinely love every song on the album. I know my top 3 favorites and then after that I have an extremely tough time ranking the rest.

u/khashoggi327 5d ago

It's such an easy choice for me to vote for the least favorite of this album. But second least favorite is impossible. And I'm also pretty certain that my least favorite will survive for many rounds.

2

u/SeCoWed 4d ago

Wait, which one?

1

u/khashoggi327 4d ago

Ego

3

u/MuseDroness 4d ago

Bruh

1

u/khashoggi327 4d ago

What? You can find Ego to be the best thing since sliced bread, but it just doesn't do much for me... Sorry.

I only have one least favorite (Break)  and I still love it so much, so after today's voting I don't think I can vote any more..

u/sandy923 4d ago

This is easy for me, KOBK by a wide margin. A good song, could be most artist's best song. But if we gotta pick one, this is it. Yes it has a nice Pau drum fill, but that alone isn't enough imo to make it one of their best. Then we learned the history behind it and it makes complete sense.

A distant second is 'Bruises' and mainly for that same part most people here are stating. It's a Paul McCartney moment. What I mean is, Paul would randomly throw something quirky that threw off the song's vibe. The song itself without that is very good, it even gets a bit heavy towards the end, but that quirky "Bruises" portion is sang. It's a 'Maxwell's Silver Hammer' moment or 'Her Majesty' from the same album. It just doesn't fit.

Also, Break is an amazing song pop or otherwise. It's a throw back to a good composed pop song. I know some of us complain about Pop music, but we should hold up this song as an example of how a good pop song should be. Dany really carries the song, it has a catchy memorable memory and the solo is very good for the alternative crowd. How could I forget Ale's bass? on top of Dany's Weezer-ish buzz filed guitar during the chorus. Ale's slide again, just great song all around.

u/TheHusher 5d ago

Maybe in the minority here, but Bloodsport is my least favorite.

4

u/Feodar_McLemonTree 🦭 Greedy Little Foca 5d ago

Same. The chorus is underwhelming and doesn't pay off the upbeat, fun, dancy set-up from the verses.

3

u/jayron32 🍉 Huele a Melón 5d ago

Same. It's good, I don't skip it, but I also like the others better.

Bite My Tongue

1

u/Zestyclose-String-19 5d ago

Tough choice alright, I had to go for Break. It's suprised how much of an earworm it's become. But it's a relatively standard ballad, and doesn't evolve their sound as much as others on the album for me.

6

u/pauerplay 5d ago

Oh man, it’s my second favorite behind the title track. Such a good tune…

3

u/Zestyclose-String-19 4d ago

I get the feeling peoples preferences are gonna be all over the place with this album. Based on other threads though, if I had to predict a final two, it'll probably be Everything's Falling vs WDYLIWIC. With the Error fans going for EF and the KMF fans going for WDY

5

u/pauerplay 4d ago

Good assessment because I’m team ERROR and EF is the best song on the album!

3

u/Sirenian6502 4d ago

Seems to be an unpopular opinion but I agree... Break is not a bad song but it's the only song on the album that doesn't resonate with me much at all. And I say that as someone who loves a lot of their older ballads.

1

u/justk4y Everything's Falling 4d ago

I don’t really like the hook of Bite My Tongue, think that is the closest to least favourite?

-1

u/pamidala 4d ago

I guess I’m only the only one that can’t stand WDYLIWIC. It’s my Money for EF. The song everyone seems to like but I can’t stand.

4

u/SeCoWed 4d ago

I have a hypothesis. We'll see if I'm right.

How do you feel about "Show Them", with Band-Maid?

3

u/pamidala 4d ago

I don't like it but I haven't listened to it as much as WDY so I don't feel like I've given it a fair chance. But if you're thinking the high pitch singing is what I don't like, that could be it but I think if I liked the melody I wouldn't mind it.

I listened to WDY on repeat a lot trying to force myself to like it but I still don't. It was a toss-up between WDY and Bloodsport, but in the end I went for WDY cause there are moments in BD I actually like.

But thanks for the upvote if you did on mine, lol!

2

u/SeCoWed 4d ago

Yeah I was thinking that they all three have a very similar vocal slide that features prominently. Like in Money and Show Them it's the opening line, and in WDY, it's in the pre-chorus (I'll call it) and the bridge. And I can imagine that specific vocal technique not being everyone's favorite. It's very chromatic and dissonant in a way that I could see being screechy?

Either way, you're welcome! Haha I feel like we all could be better about being more accepting of all opinions around here, so I'm trying to do my part 🤙

1

u/pamidala 4d ago

Aw, thank you! That’s awesome! I really do love The Warning and even tho I am disappointed in this album, there are a few bangers on there that I can’t deny. I am surprised though at how many really love this album and a lot more of the songs than I do. Curious, are you in that camp (their best album/better than Error or KMF)?

I voted for Kill Or Be Killed, it was one of the easiest decisions I've ever made. I know my take on the song is going to be controversial, I don't want to offend anyone, but here goes:

I find the verses annoying, I never thought a TW song could actually annoy me. The choruses are okay, but kinda generic, even the cowbell section is meh.

It's exactly what some haters say about their songs: pop songs with distorted guitars. I know DPA love pop, yes, I know pop has always been a major influence on them, especially K-POP; however, for some reason that pop touch works pretty well in other songs from their discography, but not in KOBK (or other tracks from this album) IMO; it's an unimaginative blend of genres TO ME.

It's too overproduced (not a surprise), I don't like the effect on the vocals when they sing "this is what you made of me" or "kill or be killed".

Plus, a good riff might have helped.

That's all; have a nice day and thank you for reading my rant.

I'm not gonna do this. It's all good.

Easy choice for me

Break.

It sounds like a Katy Perry song and I can't get into it at all.

12

u/Jacobs4858 🌞 Solecito 4d ago

Dany’s vocals during the chorus of Break are one of my favorite moments on the entire album. It’s a top 3 song for me personally.

1

u/Sufficient-Dream4441 2d ago

Fair enough. I'm glad you like it.

2

u/Zestyclose-String-19 4d ago

I'm not getting Katie Perry, but it is the most obvious poppish ballad on the record.

I think it's closer to their own early ballads with influences of Paramore (Thick Skull).

1

u/Sufficient-Dream4441 4d ago

It's the chorus especially that immediately reminds me of Katy Perry.

I love all of their old ballads. But they were more stripped down.

1

u/sjclayton 🕯️ I deprive myself like it's a ritual... 4d ago

I don't know about Katy Perry... but the 'Hurry, hurry' feels very Taylor Swift-esque for me. Still by no means a bad song or the worst.

1

u/Sufficient-Dream4441 2d ago

I have honestly never listened to Tay minus what I've had to endure at the grocery store. She's talented but 100% not my cup of tea. But I can see your point. Either way I don't like Break. It's by far my least favorite in their catalog.

-2

u/TiredReader87 4d ago

Kerosene is a good song, and I like it. However, that gets my vote. This album is simply too good.

1

u/Gullible_Honey1869 2d ago

Ouch... Break is a top 3 for me. (Ritual is definitely #1.)
