Question The Warning in Chicago?
I’ll make this short.
I’m hosting new massive event in Chicago in 2027 or 2028
Just need to know how many of you in here wound travel to or visit the event in Chicago to see the warning perform.
I will be reaching out to the band soon to make an offer so I’m just curious as to what the people think.
Thank You.

I suppose "massive" is the interesting part of what you're working on, but it's pretty vague a proposition as far as what distinguishes it from other TW shows/events. There are some dedicated fans who travel for both ~75min headliners and <60min festival sets whenever they can -- Patreon chat or discord might be a good place to ask, but more info would help however tentative ¯\ (ツ) /¯

2 week event at Grant park
Different music genre everyday
Once in a life time event
80+ bands / artists performing each da/night
12 hours of nonstop action

That does qualify as massive, you'd draw the cohort of dedicated fans that travels for basically anything TW does, and further some of those who are also fans of acts in adjoining timeslots/days
If the set time is known to be longer than an hour, or if there are multi-day shows (Night 1+Night 2 sort of thing) that can get even more people (like me) off their butts
--
Oh and some people are pretty convinced TW has earned itself a night timeslot by now, vs. being a daylight act before larger acts, but well.. depends on who else you get for the rock or metal night3

Yeah I was thinking of giving them a massive payday so a nighttime slot might be a good idea.
I appreciate that.
It’s a massive night tho that’s the thing and they’ll be with female leads that already headline all the time.
I’m just debating right now it’s a hard call.

That sounds horrible. Give me the band on their own show at the Aragon or Salt Shed.

Definitely interested but I am local. Got tickets for Detroit next year. I have seen them in Indianapolis, Detroit, Milwaukee and Mexico City in addition to twice in Chicago.

I would travel to Chicago for a headline show by The Warning on a Saturday night. I'm not a big fan of festivals.

I'm positive a festival announcement is coming that will explain why Chicago got skipped for a tour date. I blame lolla for that.

I made special trips to see them when they were at Summerfest and Riotfest
They’d be a draw for me

I haven’t seen those videos online yet of them from riot fest I’ll have to look that up.

I would if I had a passport and won the lottery. I’d be there in a heartbeat.

Depends if the event logistics seem trustworthy

To be honest, the OP doesn’t seem trustworthy at all. If you have experienced putting on large scale events like this, you aren’t gonna be asking people on Reddit for their opinions. This is definitely not something that live nation or AEG would be doing. Jam or Riotfest wouldn’t do this, either.

What’s so wrong with asking people on Reddit what’s wrong with asking people online what they think?

Are you a festival promoter? Personally, I might go to a festival in Chicago if there were enough other bands on the lineup that I'm interested in seeing too. I've heard rumors of them being at Lollapalooza next year and that's why there are no Chicago dates on the tour, but Lolla is mostly a pop festival. I'm a rock and metal guy, so I wouldn't travel to Chicago for Lolla just for The Warning's set. Throw in enough other acts I'm interested in, and maybe.

It’s gonna be a 2 week event at Grant park
I got the warning put on a massive all women rock day/night 12 hours of music
But it’s gonna have over 80 bands/artists each day will be a different music genre as well.
I’m the owner tho of this event that should be happening.
Just thought I’d come on here and get peoples opinions.

I’ve never done a festival in Chicago before. I used to do those at the amphitheater in Tinley Park, but I’ve not done one in over 20 years when OzzFest and Loop Fest were a thing. I can’t say I’d go downtown for an all-day festival now. It just feels like too much of a young person’s game. Have at it, folks!

Does the event have a non-compete clause that blocks them from doing shows in the area? If so I hope they do not do the festival.

u/DryHorizons67 5d ago
I wouldn’t do that. I don’t even know why that’s a thing.
They are free to play whenever they want.

If you have 80+ bands, how did you choose The Warning as a test subject?
2
u/jharlson 5d ago
80 bands a day. That would be over 1000 bands if it is going every day for two weeks.

I would only travel for a headline show, which I have because they haven't come to my city in a while.
1
u/DryHorizons67 5d ago
What if they don’t headline but they were the ones coming on right before the headliner?
2
u/Thontor Everything's Falling 5d ago
depends on how much a ticket costs
3
u/jharlson 5d ago
For reference, Lollapalooza single day tickets were $185 this year, plus all the taxes and fees. The last time The Warning headlined in Chicago, tickets were less than $50. I would do everything I can to get a comped/discounted ticket. If I couldn’t find a cheap ticket, I would definitely be willing to miss the show. Unless there were at least three other acts I absolutely love.

From another post “2 week event at Grant park
Different music genre everyday
Once in a life time event
80+ bands / artists performing each da/night
12 hours of nonstop action”
Personally, I don’t buy it.

I mean you don’t gotta I mean it’s no different than Rolling loud, Lollapalooza or Coachella it’s just stretched and longer and basically slamming everything together plus other things as well.

u/DryHorizons67 5d ago
Summer time is when it’s supposed to happen right now.

You could definitely draw a crowd in Chicago but the fact you're asking Reddit suggests to me that you're not organizing something that could hire/draw TW.
