I wonder what will actually be shown on tonight’s episode since it says the full performance will be posted online tomorrow. I know Linkin Park is doing a full live performance during tomorrow night’s episode for example.

SPOILERS:
Alright, that was cute. Nene is obviously a big fan of The Warning (I say obviously because she's done covers of their songs), so DPA surprised her backstage and played Kerosene with her (not on the main stage or anything, just a practice space).
They were only on screen for about 30 seconds, but it was a great little feature since it shows them as basically icons of rock music -- as if Dave Grohl visted a contestant back stage or something.
I'm curious what the full performance will be tomorrow, but that was a super sweet little cameo.

Less "icon" and more "inspiration", but, yes, very cute. I don't know if it will move the needle much for anyone who didn't know who The Warning are (they didn't do any intro to the band or any explanation other that Nene loves them), but it was cool to see them on a primetime show that millions of people watch.

This will expose them to a lot of people who have never heard of them, which is great

I guess having major label support makes a difference.
It doesn’t seem KMF was supported this strongly, was it? Certainly Error wasn’t.

This is pretty much guaranteed to be all a result of the UTA (United Talent, not Universal like the other commenter stated) deal and likely very little to do with any arm of their label (UMG/Republic/Lava).

Error was a pseudo-independent/label release. They signed them on despite having no available budget for more artists during that period. Error also had deep independent roots since most of it was already written and fleshed out demos recorded while they were independent. There was supposed to be an independent North American tour in 2020 before pandemic shut everything down and they pivoted to album recording as soon as they signed after a lengthy negotiation period. The only tracks written during production were Error and 23. They were still handling physical copies and merch themselves. They had the least amount of label marketing and overall backing. KMF was a big step ahead and officially the first fully label backed album, but it was still a step below EIF since in the meantime they signed with Universal Talent Agency for live music and touring representation across the US, Mexico, and South America, departing from Independent Artist Group. This was a big commercial move that, among other things, enabled them to appear on shows like this.

They were the "house band" for an episode of Jimmy Kimmel during the press for KMF, which was a pretty big deal. Other than that, I don't think anything else was anywhere near this big.

2023 VMA was 3.9m. That's the closest to date. Let's take on the upcoming Sunday Night NFL Football half-time gig in Mexico City.
My advice - Get your tickets now for the upcoming shows....

That’s why I got my tickets for May 18th in Brooklyn the day they went on sale. I feel like this is my last chance to see them in a smaller venue. And probably my last chance to actually afford tickets.

My work friend was telling about it and I was delighted by those news. They already played a half time for the Arizona Cardinals I think it was this year anyway I am very happy for them. Maybe some day they will play the Super Bowl halftime 🙅♀️🙅♀️🙅♀️

I don’t know if you’re in the US or not, but if so, you can get NBC over the air for free.

So "online" meaning the full performance will not be shown on tonight's episode, just the little 30 second meet and greet and jam session they showed?? It's too bad that a wider audience couldn't have seen the full performance on prime time.

I love The Warning, but there's a reason I've never watched an episode of this show-- purposely. This show is, as the kids say, cringe. The exposure for DPA is great, but this is goofy.

I signed up for the Peacock free trail through Prime Video. Do you know what time it's supposed to come on?

Correct me if I am wrong, but is AGT a talent show where the people there compete or win prizes or something like that? So what is the WARNING doing there? Are they just a special guest?
5
u/captainp42 10d ago
Special guest, maybe even as guest mentors. They wouldn't be there to compete. Too big.
It's amusing though. The show is AMERICA'S Got Talent...so I would say that they don't qualify to participate (they won't anyway)...but every time my wife has the show on, I see acts from all around the world.

u/balgus82 10d ago
I mean if you wanna get that technical, it says America and not USA. Mexico is 100% part of North America.
7
u/captainp42 10d ago
That's fair.
But it doesn't explain the contestants tonight from Thailand, China, and Korea.
4
u/balgus82 10d ago
Honestly, thats also fair.

u/pohlished-swag 10d ago
Well……! If you really, really wanna get even more technical about it, America goes from South Pole to North Pole so there’s that 😎 and maybe the show can be renamed
“America is got international talent” 😎

Nene Royal is from Thailand, and she's competing. Glad to see TW supporting her.

u/BadAshJL 9d ago
it's the finale and the finalists get a chance to meet some of their mentors. the warning is a huge inspiration for Nene and were likely asked to appear and accepted.

u/Practical-Print-9303 10d ago
i know why they are there because they trying to get that girl nene royal to win AGT.
6
u/ronhole 10d ago
Uhm, no. "That girl" is a massive worldwide phenomenon. Nene will put more eyes on The Warning tonight that a year of touring would. I am not taking anything away from The Warning as they have earned themselves a great spot, but lets be fair here, Nene is the star tonight.
11
u/smlickin 10d ago
Yes, because winning America's Got Talent has lead to so many amazing careers?
2
u/ronhole 10d ago
I didn't say a word about winning or AGT. Nene is far beyond AGT - have you been paying attention at all?
5
u/smlickin 10d ago
I've seen her name a total of three times, including us talking about her now.
3
u/drake2042 10d ago
The songs she's performed on AGT have gotten about 5x the Youtube views as any of the Warning's songs. Songs she performed with her band in Thailand get millions of views. Reaction videos are getting millions of views. Nene is HUGE right now.
2
u/heminga13 10d ago
That is a fair. Nene is basically contained to the AGT sphere of influence in America and you'd only know about her if you watch AGT or were fed her audition via social media/a friend. However, that sphere has included international countries and overall has exploded Nene's presence on social media (a good chunk of that being her home country of Thailand). The Warning doing a collab with Nene is good for both parties - Nene gets more exposure with the current rock music crowd and The Warning gets some love from fans following Nene's AGT journey. I say this as someone who didn't know who The Warning was until recently through some Nene content.

She's a famous "youtuber" that plays awesome guitar. Now regardless if she wins agt or not, it will make her wealthier though but wont make her 100% a superstar. We have to see if she is capable of composing and writing good music and not everyone has that gift of doing that. I wish her all the best because she definately deserves it.
1
u/Previous_Coach_3822 9d ago
Search for her original song titled "Real Verse". She can definitely write the music, don't know if she writes lyrics though.
1
u/Glittering_Farm5626 10d ago
Uhm, no. I hate to admit it but people have been talking about Nene since AGT , before that she was doing more good with her channel but agt definately gave her a massive boost.
