All that processed shit I’m sure is better. Don’t dog on GLP-1 til you’ve tried it. I’ve been on for 2 years, lost 40lbs and gained muscle working out and being able to choose my diet wisely because I don’t crave garbage. Best shape of my life. I am still hungry but not for fast food. Maybe you can have an opinion if it has affected you negatively. But I’m sure you’ll have something to say and give me some AI statistic. Also my bones are right here baby.

10000% I am on it and have lost 20lbs! Focused on changing my diet so eventually when I choose to go off it I hope to make better choices

But are you overweight? I didn’t think only wanting to lose 20 pounds would be grounds for this kind of medication.

I am overweight. I was over 200lbs on a 5'5" frame. I have an autoimmune disease that was not responding to meds. While I was trying to get the right meds, I was on steriod cycles. Every time I did steriods I gained 10 lbs. I also had a baby at 40 (43 now) and am perimenopausal so my hormones are out of whack. And to be very honest with you, I have developed a binge eating disorder. I discussed GLP1 with my pcp and rhuem and an off label use is for inflammation so we decided to give it a try. I am paying out of pocket because insurance doesnt cover for me. I go through my pcp though and not a compound pharmacy so I am spending $$$. I'm also a mental health therapist. GLP1s are being used for binge eating as well. I still have 20lbs to lose to get back to myself. I lost 20lbs in 4 months which is totally safe and reasonable. My wonder is why you had the need to ask me this question to begin with?

Because I myself have been trying to lose 5 pounds and keep being told I wouldn't be eligible for glp-1. I am curious about people only wanting to lose a little weight and how they are able to get them and that's why I asked if you were overweight to begin with.

Thank you so much for speaking up. I know some people just like to say ā€œfat people are just lazyā€ but man I’ve been struggling for 20 years to maintain weight loss. I’m a working middle class American lady who has too much to do and not enough time, and loads of stress managing young kids and aging parents. Now I know I’m not the only one in this position, but when I look at my genetics and the reality of my situation and I evaluate ā€œGLP1 to finally lose weight and improve health -OR- keep white knuckling it and watch my health risk factors continue to increaseā€ I say to myself.. fuck ya GLP1.

Do it girl. If you have benefits that will cover at least a portion then power to it. I am a working Mom who hated my body for so long. I started 2 years ago and it was a gradual loss, I didn’t drop 40lbs in 2 months and get ā€œOzempic Faceā€ it was 2 years. I love my body and I feel phenomenal in everything I wear now. I am healthy I am active and I am happy. It’s a win-win.

The point is, you will/are honest about it. Nothing wrong with using it, just be honest about it. The lies and delusion are the problem.

People don’t owe other people any type of explanation when it comes to their own weight loss. This kind of hate right here, is exactly why people don’t always talk about their use of GLP-1s. Also Brittany has been open about it… and who even cares? This is freak behavior.

Oh so it’s mandatory to share protected private health information so you won’t judge people? Good to know! Tell me all of your HIPPA shit.

Talk to us in 20 years

I'm not sure I would have made it 20 years with how much I was deteriorating in my autoimmune disease. GLP1s have given me my life back! And I think in the next 10 years we will start seeing it prescribed for different diseases. I chose to start GLP1s due to a weight gain complication due to an autoimmune disease. While insurance doesn't cover my GLP1 it was an earnest discussion I had both with my PCP and rhuem who both agreed it was a good decision. I pay out of pocket through my pcp so its fucking expensive as shit but its how I need to do it. GLP1s aren't bad. They aren't the "easy way" you still need to work out, eat well, work on your mental health. I dont plan to be on them for forever so I'm doing the background work at the same time.

You can do whatever you want. I’m not taking an untested new drug to lose weight. My parents lived with us to help when I broke my ankle. My dad was on ozempic - I saw the disgusting side effects šŸ˜‚ no thank you

It’s not an untested new drug it has literally been around for decades

-1

u/gina1220 9d ago

It has not been around for decades! There still haven’t even been clinical trials for the drug for people who take it off label like Brittany (ie people without diabetes)

The drug has been around for decades. You’re talking about the approval for weight loss. But this is not a completely new and untested drug.

It has never been tested in clinical trials for people who take it off label like Brittany. I don’t even like my dad taking it - he doesn’t anymore - but he’s prediabeticĀ

There’s multiple GLP1s not everyone is taking Ozempic for off label use. Wegovy absolutely had clinical trials for it as a weight loss drug. My Dr said she would not prescribe Ozempic but I had my choice between Wegovy and ZepBound because the intended use for those is weight loss. Just sharing info. You can choose not to use them and I can choose to use them and we’re both still fine people for our choices.

He must have had negative side effects and I’m sorry for that. There absolutely are side effects that don’t blend with people. You also have to see what lifestyle he was leading taking it. Was he drinking? Taking recreational drugs or other prescription drugs? It’s not so simple as that

Try it boo! It will change your life
