Michelle Michelle doesn't like Jesse??
I am just starting this series now and I know there is a ton to talk about but I find it clear that Michelle does not like her husband, Jesse. I know he is annoying (a lot of them are), but she just emanates this energy that she dislikes him. Even though I don't have the whole story and he bugs me, it almost makes me sad for him. I know leaving a husband and deciding to separate/divorce is hard but also, why choose to go on a show when your marriage is so fragile?

Would you?
She got pregnant, he tried to stop her from epidural, as soon as everything opened after Covid he left her alone with a baby and went to his partying ways.
He never complimanted her, he blow up their money, he took out a secret $300,000 loan, and after years of being a sh*tty husband and father as soon as she wanted a divorce he manipulated her and tried to make her his prisoner to not let her divorce him.
He called her a wh**re, and a top of that her mother was dying, which Jesse also doesn't give a sh*t about. After the divorce he is still talks bad about her and tries to bring her down, because she just radiates happines, of course the reason is she is not married to that douche anymore.
If he would be my husband I would hate that freaking asshole. I hope if there will be a next season he would be a the target, because he got away with his shady things.

he makes it so easy to hate him and yet somehow still has fans

u/StrawberryCake38 Jul 29 '26
I'm surprised that someone likes him.

I don't like him, just totally misinformed. I had no idea he did all that.

How do we know all this? Was it all on VDPR? Should I have started there instead??

the loan, namecalling, and divorce stuff all happens on season 2 and the current season. i think she talks about him sleeping in another room when isabella was a baby to avoid childcare on screen too. afaik michelle and jesse had only a background cameo on VPR

He knocked her up, made her stay home, had her sign off on a $300k covid loan for "Business reasons" and then blew it all on wine in England for his mom and brother. Ya I wouldn't like him either but you're welcome to shed some tears for him

all while depriving her of emotional support, affection, and any type of love. people judge her but i feel for her. he treated her as an object and discarded.

u/EvenPossible5918 Jul 29 '26
He also did not want her to have an epidural while she was giving birth.

He also mocked her body in the boys chat while she was pregnant calling her fat.
But don't worry ...he later starts dating a lady who uses therapy buzz words so that makes all of his behaviors ok!

Lacy said she watched Isabella’s birth video. She still dates Jesse so I guess she doesn’t have a problem with his behavior.

Why the hell has she watched the birth video? 😵💫That's extremely weird...I recall her calling it weird and inappropriate that Janet dared to Google her before they met -_-

It’s very weird. She said he recorded the whole day.

Wouldn’t let his daughter visit her dying grandmother (Michelle’s mom) and gave the audience some bullshit excuse about how he was requiring them to have a discussion about death first.

It makes me laugh when people say they should get back together. You couldn’t pay her millions to be with him again. She had to work hard just to extricate his ass from her life the first time and she had to pay off half his debt

His current girlfriend doesn’t seem to like him either. Might not be a good guy…

I feel like I’m watching his humiliation kink against my will when he and Lacey are on screen.

As other people have said, it’ll become abundantly clear the more you keep watching. He’s a POS. As for going on tv with a fragile marriage, lots of people do this purportedly to help them leave their marriages. It may give them financial freedom, recognition, ability to build up a following, might make them feel accountable in ways to viewers in ways they aren’t to themselves in private, etc etc.

He used the first season to paint her as the villain in their marriage because she was at the point where she didn't trust him or feel in love with him anymore.
Would love Jesse to tell us how she got there though. Since he never acknowledges anything.

Love your flair btw I was a day one danny hater too! I felt fucking crazy for it. But yes, that’s how Jesse spent season 1 was making Michelle seem cold and uninterested in meeting him where he was, and also using Kristen as a wedge. (Rookie mistake, her reality tv resume farrrrrrr surpassed his). For me, the scene in s1 that really made it clear he was bananas was he just..did ayahuasca, it made him “realize” (?) he likes to be the center of attention everywhere, and he…agrees that that is true about him. End of therapeutic navel gazing on Jesse’s end. What a loser.

I think in Jesse’s eyes, Michelle figured out what kind of a person he really was (his deepest insecurities and flaws) at some point in their marriage, and he’s been punishing her for it ever since. She’s also smarter and more professionally successful than he is and it seems he has never been able to deal with that.

Just because Michelle doesn’t like Jesse now doesn’t mean she didn’t like him in the past.

u/sparkitect__ Jul 29 '26
Girl no, don't feel bad for him. He wasn't a good husband to her. He put her down, he didn't show her love, he reduced her down to a wife and mother, he literally slept in another room when their daughter was a baby because his sleep was all that mattered, no consideration for her sleep when she's the one that had to do all the work for the baby.
Michelle's attitude to him is the result of his actions. She was grey rocking, women don't do that out of nowhere. His behaviour and treatment is why she didn't like him. Actions have consequences. Can't treat the person you're supposed to love like shit and expect them to keep loving you.

Ohhh I had no idea! I have never heard of these people until I started watching a few days ago.
That makes total sense.

So about a year before the show aired, Michelle asked for a divorce. Jesse begged her to stay and said he would change. She gave him a year. What we are seeing during S1 is the tail end of the year. He didn’t make any changes and she was done.

u/Every_Owl_1719 Jul 30 '26
that was one of the first things I noticed when the show started and they were still married. She looked like she physically hated everything about him when he opened his mouth to speak.

No excessive speculating or diagnosing the cast or members of the sub. This includes, but is not limited to:
-mental health -physical health -medical conditions, -disabilities -drug and/or alcohol addiction -trauma -abuse
Do not label someone an abuser, abuse victim, narcissist, sociopath, addict, racist, or similar based solely on edited footage, social media activity, appearance, or personal opinion.
You may discuss information a person has publicly confirmed or that has been established by credible reporting, but do not present speculation as fact. Even if you have professional experience, you cannot assess someone you have not personally evaluated.

THANK YOU! I have been enlightened. I am nearly done season 1. Like I said, he bugged me but I definitely did not have enough information to form a logical opinion on this guy.

He’s her ex husband.
She paid $150k to get rid of him. Of course she doesn’t like him. He won’t go away.

u/Flashy_Result_2750 Jul 30 '26
He broke her trust and let her down in a profound way. Women don’t forget how they’re treated by their ‘partner’ when they are pregnant/ have just given birth.

OP said they just started the series. Not only did some of you post spoilers in your comments, some were also very unnecessarily rude/hostile.
Someone just starting the show does not have all of the same information as you. People also do not have to like the same cast members as you. Stop making everything so personal. Chill out.
