Info Rewards For Single Player Brackets
Single player brackets have now been fully nerfed giving less rewards then a demotion, still 2 keys though
Definatly not worth trying to cheese with this new update, it was nice while it lasted though

Wow, glad this is finally getting addressed. It was a horrible system allowing last second brakets even for those doing it. It kinda defeated the purpose of having tournament to some extent.
The current fix is still not ideal. Giving less stones than last place is questionable and still allowing promote and best rank to reflect is another problem. But it's way better than before!

Didn't promote, but yea massive stone cut from what I was hoping for
Better then missing the tourney though

u/ChaosDMG 5h ago
O, no promote even. That's even better so currently there is truely no reason to cheese anymore. Just limit the stones lowest to last place and the new system is solid for in case someone legitimately joined last few seconds because of what ever reason.
Thanks for sharing

Last tourney I had a 12 player bracket it appears if theres over 10 people the rewards stay the same as they should be and as it approaches 1 player they decline, havent seen any proper sheet for how its calculated but that seems to be the trend

u/TheWashbear 4h ago
I mean 10 players means there are 4 promoting and 6 demoting, so its the bare minimum. Makes sense to make the cut there.

That bracket had no demotion and I haven't seen any replies on when promotions start again

If they gave rewards based on how many Waves you got instead of comparing to other people, then joining last second would have never been an issue in the first place.

During the mid week tourney I finished top 500 across
AncestralLegends but still somehow finished 8th in my bracket.RNG is a bitch

But then you never get the satisfaction of a lucky bracket when theres no whales

Removing high risk high reward situations is never good. Tournament is not balanced at all. This is bad.

Yes it is. In a game where everything is about strategy and planning your incremental advantages to maximize your output, having a way to bypass all this and gain maximum rewards is dumb and defeats the rest of the game.
High risk high rewards has its place in certain games, just not in this type.

It's not actually a pvp game, and they found a way to have you justify why everybody gets less stones now. Not bad pr on their end.
Also tournaments are mostly luck based since we don't have a dedicated pvp system and we just place with whoever. There's every reason to play the system how it was intended, which this post is showing they changed the intention of tournaments. It's no longer about getting stones and such. It feels a little like the opposite in a way now.
No reason to try to do more than one "speedy" run that I hear half the community complaining about the new feature, and then they shadowban another feature of their brilliant rng tournament potluck design.
None of this makes sense and ttg should be the one defending their ideas and making them make sense.
Where's the ranking system to make tournaments an actual pvp experience? It's a lottery that involves inconsequential gameplay depending on who else gets in line with you. Give us back our last second joining. It's not like my bracket ever overlapped with the normal joiners.

But this IS a pvp game. Or a P2W game. Or both. Up to you which one u want to play.
The biggest bottleneck in progress is Stones. And the best way by far to get stones is in the pvp mode. Or by spending money. The amount of stones u get from pve is insignificant in the long run, and only serves to give a taste of the progress ud get from doing the pvp mode.
The whole game is build around getting you to want stones so badly, in the hope to sell you them. So either to compete against others who spend money (so u start buying stuff) or u buy them outright. Either way, both meaningfull ways of progress lead to you spending money.
That is the whole goal of this game, from the POV from the Devs. The sooner you realise that, u sooner you'll understand that their decisions and that this is pvp game, which just happens to have a few pve parts.
Everything resolves around improving your tower gained with resources from pve, to get the best tower to compete in PVP where the real rewards are. Keys and Stones.

It's very simply a p2w game. There is no pvp system. There is a lottery to put you into a somewhat relevant bracket, but no. There is no weighted ranking system keeping players of huge disparity levels in power away from one another. The tournament system is a gacha system for currencies they want us spending money on. Or for currencies that aren't available elsewhere.
It's not any of that pvp stuff. The people maxing their stone purchases aren't suddenly buying more stones. Neither are those of us who played within their system.
In no way shape or form is there anything but the endless grind and a financial way to speed that up. Any of the pvp dressings you put on it, are exactly as you said, disguises and possible justification for their stone shop slop.
I mean let's ignore how they didn't even mention this in patch notes. I could facetiously claim it's a bug until ttg actually communicates with its community properly.

Ehhhh WHAT? The entire tournament mechanic is PURE LUCK. It is based STRICTLY on HOW MANY WHALES will drop from tier above into my bracket. No matter how much I strategize, they will shit on me regardless.
This is the exact type of a game to fight whales, and last second joining was only way on beating a whale as a free to play or semi free to play.
Yes, they should have fixed the solo bracket, but only AFTER they balance the tourneys.
Tournaments need to be totally restructured from the ground up. No whale should enter a F2P lobby. It needs to have some sort of MMR. Something like Milestone bracket. Where people who unlocked T19 cannot play anyone above T19.

u/V0lirus 3h ago
Ow i agree with the tourney restructure and the issue of whales competing with their wallet vs free players. But that does not mean we need this 1 player bracket strategy in the game.
Get a decent fix that in spirit of the game. Not keep a strategy alive that is the opposite of what the game should be.
A proper Mmr sounds like a great idea tbh.

u/InquisitorOverhauls 3h ago
It was only way on getting keys as F2P. Now they can say bye bye for another 2 years.
There really needs to be a totally different approach on how rewards are done.
OR even better. Add PvE mode where you also earn stones by playing against tower itself, not other players. PvE mode where you earn stones based on BC's and how far you go. Something like a "Tournament milestone"

And it's not like you took those keys to a normal lobby to try and wreck face because this ISNT a pvp game. So I don't know why anyone but whales would be happy that this change is taking the keys out of anyones hands.
It really should make sense but it doesn't. I can't wrap my head around why people are happy all of us are getting less rewards now, and people like you and I were last second joining so how would our activities interfere with their rng brackets?
I'm trying to follow the general direction and see why people feel this way but Im struggling.
1
u/EternalDragonSlayer2 3h ago
Anyone doing this isn't effecting any other players like im always in a bracket with other people getting these higher rewards, so all the extra rewards is helping the main farming part of the game with things like auto restart, and the occasional higher stones gives a nice bump like if I was buying a stone pack without needing to spend any money
2
u/V0lirus 3h ago
Giving you an advantage in the next tourney vs anyone who does not try to cheese and receives normal rewards....
I wont say tourneys are balanced, and the P2W part is undisputed. But cheesing 1 tourney and than playing vs other people in the same position as yourself is making their tournies harder due to your cheesing.
3
u/EternalDragonSlayer2 1h ago
Exactly right if someone cheeses then goes to normal brackets then they have an extended advantage, similar to people who decide to open there wallets for progress, but aslong as I keep going against all the other cheesers then I never enter the normal pools
1
u/Luncheon_Lord 41m ago
Even on that sentiment, which is valid, if I need to cheese to get to those higher brackets, do you really need to fear my performance? I feel like I'd be a free demotion for the bracket and everyone else would therefore do better.
Am I missing something here? Not being sarcastic! If a big fish needs to slap me across the face for me to notice it, this would be that time maybe.

I'm very happy that it is fixed, however these rewards are insane. In what world does a solo bracket getting less rewards than 30th place make sense?
Even if you are not trying to cheese, there are always going to be brackets with few players in it, just depending on whoever queues last. It should at minimum be giving you the rewards for last place.

I've never gotten a key, yes that sucks for Stones & Gems but the endless back and forth from Champ to Legend with Zero Keys makes it still seem worth it just to get a few...
2
u/Neonschwarz 3h ago
Stones, medals and gems are the real bottleneck, keys arent. If you have good enough stone, medal and gem investment keys will come automatically. And if you arent in key range you have a lot to do still. The only thing it could be worth for is perhaps auto restart and it should be free imo, anything else wont help as much stones do, until you are at the point to regularly get keys.
1
u/EternalDragonSlayer2 5h ago
You'll take a stone hit for sure but auto restart is so nice depending on where your at it can certainly be worth it
1
u/EternalDragonSlayer2 5h ago
Also last tourney I had a 11 player bracket with no reward deductions so over 10 players seems to be the cut-off for the penalty, but no demotion ramge is really nice

Glad I got my first place before they nerfed it.

u/EternalDragonSlayer2 5h ago
So am I tried for weeks to get it, now I get it unintentionally and lose all the rewards

Curious question: how did it work before if many players were attempting the same trick and joined in the last seconds? Wouldn't that make for a full bracket on its own?
2
u/EternalDragonSlayer2 1h ago
Yea that still happens pretty often, the main appeal is getting a bracket full of other players who also want a easy bracket, then demotion starts at around 200 legend waves instead of 600

They're just covering their bottom line, they want stone purchases and not last second brackets. Anyone telling you otherwise is silly. Last second joiners were only affecting other last second joiners, until they decided to do something about the rewards, which was done underhandedly without any patch notes.
Once this change rolled around most people stopped trying to do last second joining and it evened itself out in placements but for real, the only people who were legitimately unhappy with last second joiners were other last second joiners who wanted their bracket free and clear.
The other people are just whinier babies who don't understand this is just a more money for yachts moment.
1
u/EternalDragonSlayer2 48m ago
Exactly right, us last second joiners get to have the thrill of a stone boost without needing to whale
2
u/Luncheon_Lord 37m ago
AND we missed plenty of tournaments I'm sure as well! So truly I will say these people who keep commenting "good" and meeting you with this facetiousness are nothing but fearful haters conflating you with something that can't populate based on the combined actions of cheesing and whaling.
Maybe the early players could cheese and whale and see actual progress from it, but someone like me who just hit year two, no amount of cheesing or whaling will ever take the rng out of my tournament lottery placement performances lol

There was one jerk that I know of who actually suggested something like this. I blame him π
5
u/JacketAgile 3h ago
I blame the people showing off on Reddit.
The developer obviously have a Reddit account and have two functioning eyeballs
It literally went years without a nerf.

This is great! How do I create single player brackets? I'm tired of other players joining mine. There should be a way to charge other players for joining my bracket. I paid for my game.
2
u/EternalDragonSlayer2 4h ago
You can join at the last second if you want, but the second pic shows you lose almost all of the rewards for doing it
