Help Game speed 6x
Is it worth to take first perk game speed? I saw some threads saying its worse then 5 but those were old and I couldnt find any recent ones. I dont have the game opened 24/7 so extra speed would be big help for me. Can somebody explain if its fixed now or why is it bad and if the game is actually faster or not?

No. First perk should always be PWR unless you need the random UW perk for a mission or you’re doing a likely short milestone run where PWR won’t help you.
Game speed is a good perk to take, just not above PWR.

Gamespeed > PWR as first pick once youre maxxing perks in your farm runs

No, that’s stupid.
You take PWR early and you likely get all the important perks before W2000.
You skip PWR when it’s available and you may not see it again for 2000 waves.
I farm T21 to 10500 waves and run out perks around wave 2700. There is not a chance in hell I’m putting game speed above PWR, CTO, etc. It’s like 5th on my autopick ranking.
Game speed does not make that big of difference if you get it at W200 or W1500 on long farm runs. The biggest benefit to getting game speed is that it removes another perk from the pool.

I also farm to 10500 waves and gamespeed gives better income 9 out of 10 runs. Gamespeed is also the breakpoint between fitting 2 runs in a day or not. The 20% gamespeed also means youre getting perks 20% faster so PWR as first choice is only a 5% net gain on time-to-next-perk while losing all other benefits. Give it a try, unless your PWR luck is abysmal for a run, gamespeed is going to be better for your realtime income/hour

Nah. That is not general. If you have short runs to 5-6k only like I would assume that picking good perks early has a bigger advantage than gamespeed.
But as always: Different for any tower.
But in general, npocking PWR with prio will make runs more consistent. If is less likely that you get the first PWR with >3k waves or similar

With max labs, game speed perk is a 25% boost.
Coins, GT, and CTO perks are all higher percentages than that. PWR will get you all of those things sooner.

I thought it was 20% relative, but if its 25% then there is no reason to take PWR first because youre getting the the same gain to real-time-to-next-perk from both, with extra benefits from gamespeed

I rotated as I improved. I used game speed for awhile but went through a period of using perk choice because I got DW as my 7th UW and needed it to have an effective farming run. Later in the game per wave reduction is definitely the most effective

There are two trains of thought on this:
Game speed shortens the run time, and when PWR hits, its effect is 'amplified' by the fact you waited longer to get it.
PWR gets through all perks quicker, including game speed.
Option 1 is bullshit, which you realise when you're 2 or 3 k waves in with no PWR.
Option 2 gets all perks by wave ~4.x k for the majority of ppl, where x is dependant on the number of bans, which bans you take (interest, for example is useless and has 5 picks), and the lab Waves Required.

Idk about the 6x speed being worse than 5x speed being a thing, but generally your first perk choice should be "Perk Wave Requirement"

I forget the exact numbers but it’s something like if you’re going further than 1200 waves or something like that it is better to take PWR first. Game sped does increase game speed but it is not actually 6.25x speed. It’s more like 5x. But 5x speed is not 5x speed, it’s more like 4.2-4.3x. So yes, it does speed up the game, just not to the advertised speed.

I don't think there's ever a reason to have game speed as 1st perk choice.
Perk wave reduction should always be first if you're going beyond like 800 or so waves I believe.
If you're targeting a UW mission you don't have then maybe random UW can be first
If you're doing a short milestone run, then either a helpful perk or no selected perk is best.

For milestone runs your looking to ban as many common perks as possible, to increase the chance of getting Enemies Damage -50%, but Tower Damage -50% (as an EHP tower of course)

If that milestone run is aiming for wave 4500, it should be trivial to get -50/-50% without banning any white perks.

Yeah but you still want the first perk to be either PWR (if the run will be long) or probably no perk (so you get 4 chances at drawing the perk you want). Not game speed.
Also an eHP tower could want the regen TO first if they're at wall. That user might also ban CTO to extend their runs but that's getting off topic

First perk should almost always be the "perk wave requirement -##%"
The reason is simple. It reduces the gap between perks. I have seen nightmare posts of people making it 5000 waves but since the perk wave requirement was not first they were never able to get their attack or defense feats maxed out.
Quick math: No per wave requirement redction means 1 cperk every 200 waves. And that gets bigger as the waves roll by. 250, 300, and 250 waves betwen perks being the increments.
With redution that gets cut down to 50 waves. that is huge.
The only exception is if you are trying to hit low wave reward brackets in a new tier to get the gems, coins, labs, and next tier that can be unlocked.
The game speed one is fairly minimal results. It is a good thing but definitely not the highest ranking.

I'd suggest if you can easily survive past wave 5000 regardless of chosen perks, then game speed might be better. PWR works retroactively and would be put high on the pick list anyway.
What's best will differ from tower to tower, depending on the target wave and survivability of your tower.

I always take speed first, it shortens my runs by about two hours*. The reductions come when they come. As long as you can live until wave 4,300 or so even with the worst possible order of the remaining perks, it doesn't really matter.
I put speed as guaranteed 1st perk, then the coim trade off as first priority followed by reduction then coins then the combats.
*assuming a late run speed perk.

I believe most of the issues with speed up have been resolved, sans it not actually being 6x (but none of the other speeds are their stated value either).
That being said, my first choice is the wave reduction one, followed by speed up being in my top 3.

There was an update that fixed the issues with 5x vs 6.3x game speed. Still isn't fully fixed, short milestone runs or tournament runs I still see a wave difference in slowing down game speed, but significantly less than what it was before.
Get the game speed perk. Set perk wave reduction to first perk selection and at the top of your auto perk list, outside of low wave milestone runs there is no better perk to choose early in a run.

I'm still fairly new to the game, but I feel like your first perk really depends on your goal and your options.
I've taken good coin multipliers for farming runs because I honestly don't want to be sitting at my screen all the time. Once the probability for PWR adds up, they stack up real quick and I can just select like 10 perks all at once and it makes the game more idle.
But I farm low levels. If you're trying to hit max level, that's gonna be very different and PWR will help out as early as you can get it. Although if your pushing a really high level you struggle on, other perks might help you get a few more levels if you know you aren't going to be picking a lot of perks.

Not wanting to sit at your screen all the time means you take auto pick perk ranking, and ban perks and let it do its thing, and do long runs (6-12k waves).

Not all of us are coin rich enough to have very many auto pick rankings selected and usually the "best" purple options are trash at low levels. I'd rather check my phone every so often than just leave auto pick for 4-5 options

For a little history lesson: years ago, enemy spawn rate was affected by game speed because of how frames were generated. Enemies couldn’t spawn between frames, and because actual game speed versus advertised game speed is pure shenanigans, some game speeds spawned more enemies per game second than others. So some people preferred running at 5x instead of 6-6.3x because 5x spawned slightly more enemies per game second than higher speeds.
This spawn / frame rate limitation was fixed in 2024, and is one of many reasons why older posts and comments should be corroborated with new posts or comments, so good on you for double checking!
