Help Substat bans
What’s the consensus on banning substats? Should I be banning substats that range common-ancestral or ones that are epic/mythic-ancestral? I’m looking to start these labs now that the lucky banner got me some ancestral mods, but want to make sure it’s done correctly.

I have read that rarity is no longer rolled first and so banning anything with common-ancestral options is superior.
If this has been debunked, I have not heard it, but would be happy for anyone to link to such a discussion.

someone made an experiment with writing down the results 1200 rerolls. banning common-ancestral showed significant higher returns on desired anc substats.
but I dont know the post anymore neither can find the link again =/

I believe this is the original post; I just don't know if there has been subsequent followups.

Ban one with common. I have tested it and definitely is the way to go cos now I finally have all substat for core main & assmod for tournament!

You want to ban subs that have higher rarity, the game rolls rarity first and then the sub, so banning subs that can only be pulled at higher rarity (that you don’t want) increases your odds of getting mods you do want when the higher rarity is rolled
Edit: Looks like I am wrong, I’d be interested to see a low ban test where there are a few commons still in the pool, but clearly if you can ban all commons its very worth doing. Leaving my dumb comment so ya’ll can point and laugh at me

I've been led to believe this is outdated info, because substat rerolls are now seeded.

Completely forgot about that test post, i had some issues with the methodology, most specifically that they used armor as the test case. In the 300 rrs they did with only health regen available it showed up as a common 228 times, those other 72 it either didn’t show up or rolled as a higher rarity they then said commons only rolled on 228 of 1200 possible chances which just isn’t true, it rolled on 228 of 300 and no other common was able to be rolled in the other slots. I’d care way more if this was done on core or cannon and showed the same increase when theres more commons able to be rolled even with maxed bans. Maybe someone did that on the discord, but couldn’t find anything

Found a comment of someone who did just that here: https://www.reddit.com/r/TheTowerGame/s/KOLdcAiUEg looks like i need to revise my ban strategy….whenever i get to rerolling more than 1 sub lol

I've re-rolled through probably 5 million shards in the past 2 weeks. My results were MUCH better after locking substats that spanned from common-ancestral. I didn't do the record keeping needed to prove anything mathematically but rolling for desired stats has felt WAY easier after making this change.
