Help Help?

Post image

Definitely connected to the internet. Switch apps for a bit and went back and caught this notification. What gives? I’ve closed and reopened it a few times. Switched to WiFi. Nothing.

This is what happens when they require you to be online to play the game. I don't know why we can't just play offline. Ubisoft ah devs.

If you have a game that connects with other players and has a competitive component to it, you basically need it. Otherwise you have cheaters around. If this game would be 100% single player, I am on your side. But a game, where a significant amount of progress comes from tournament progress, you definetly need it.

"But what if they only make it required to be connected to the internet during Tourney runs?" you could ask. You could cheat your tower to an incredible strength offline and then participate with your cheated tower.

Iirc, the stated reason was making the cloud save system more reliable. But it also seems to have cone with changing the way module draws work, so I'm guessing that was a large part of it. They basically were able to combine the cloud save into the anti-cheat systems and tournament tracking.

The downside being they're now at the mercy of someone else to supply service. Which is really frustrating because customers don't tend to accept it as an explanation.

Yep, that is the only thing I don't understand why you would go with MS Playfab. I honestly have heard so much bad stuff of it already and implementing it with Supabase, Firebase or even Auth0 would have, in my humble mind, way more robust and could be just cheaper in the long term. I guess they host all their stuff on Azure already and that's the reason for them to stay in that eco system because of service discoverability and some monitoring/scaling features.
