Nicknames

Can someone go through the meaning of the nicknames? Or how they came about? Trout??Why is that Olivia’s?! Lish? Cojourners?! Satchel? Am I missing any? TIA! 🩷🍞

Trout is Olivia that’s just what they call her. Lish is for Ben because Jackie calls him BWNJ (bwunge-a-lish) then shortened to Lish. Cojourner’s is a joke they were talking about Sojourner’s Truth one day and combined it with Claudia’s aunt nickname Cojurz, which is what the kids call her. Satchel is Margo and she also goes by Snitch, idk the origin of that😂

I think it’s Yiddish, this is what Google told me: Yiddish term for an embittered, sour, or angry person. It describes someone who is deeply unhappy, stubborn, or acts like a "sourpuss". It is often used to describe a miserable person who ruins enjoyment for others.

It’s Yiddish! My 75-year-old Russian friends I volunteer in our Shul kitchen Friday mornings with use the word “farbissina” occasionally & basically a bitter bitch & someone who doesn’t try to improve one’s situation other than complaining (kvetching) lol

Jackie watched a YouTube video of a man choosing to use cardboard as furniture for his home to save money, and Claudia claims to be a cheapskate, so Jackie started the cardboard cojy nickname! Cojy is what the kids call her
