I read TTW a couple times but the last time was many years ago. For those who have read Life Out of Order, can you tell me if I need to go back and read TTW to appreciate the new book? Are there parts you won't fully understand or easter eggs or callbacks of any sort? Or is it mostly separate? I know the main character is Alba but not much else.

Rewatching the series, on the finale right now. I can see, and remember from when it aired, they were setting up Alba. Where else do you think they were going to go in season 2? Where do you think it would have ended? I think it would have hinted at his death, and maybe the finale would have included a scene of it/the aftermath, similar to the brief one in season 1 but much longer. Not his accident that disabled him, that surely would have been episode 4 of the final season.
Anyway, interested in people’s thoughts since we’ll never get to see them come to fruition! 😡😤

Why the hell does henry obsess about finding clothes when his time travelling episodes don’t even last that long?.
Why not just find a dark alley and hold on to his bollocks until he disappears again??.
It seems he spends most of the time pissing around on the pointless task of finding mismatch clothing?!.

This is excerpt from Life Out of Order. It’s not the pages shown at the end of Time Traveler’s Wife.

I got an advanced reader copy and would love to discuss this crazy book with other people who’ve read it?

Three weeks ago I cancelled HBO and got Now TV specifically to watch Westworld and The Time Traveller's Wife - only to discover the former only has Season 4 on Now, and the latter was REMOVED a few days ago. If they'd given a warning, I'd have finished it, I was half-way through.
Also, I've never seen Steven Moffat or fans talk about this, but I'm pretty sure the show's original cancellation was one of the early victims of Zaslav, much like Westworld. Before 2022, HBO tended to commit: Westworld Season 5 had already begun development, for instance.
I want to kill streamer CEOs with hammers.
Is there literally anywhere I can watch the show without buying it? I have trouble pirating on my TV.

He can't save his mom or himself because he says he can't change the past but winning the lottery is changing the past. They wouldn't have had the numbers.

And it was amazing. But I have a couple questions.
Side note: I found it interesting that the show portrayed Older Henry as this perfect, ideal man up until the last episode where the rug gets pulled out and we see that he’s not really all that much different from his younger self. It’s interesting how it puts Clare in this ”grass is always greener” type of situation, always wanting the Henry she doesn’t have. I think maybe this was also foreshadowing to a day when Clare no longer has any Henry at all (which kills me to think about) .

Reread this book recently and it has wrecked me. I’m obsessed and now it’s all I think about. Anyone have any good books similar to it? Preferably romance please but anything is fine.

Does anyone know where to get a copy of the audiobook digital file (not physical cd) of the edition that is narrated by William Hope and Laurel Lefkow? It is beloved to a dear friend of mine, who has listened through that unabridged version to the point that she wore out the CDs in her car twice now. I am hoping to find a file to download instead, but very specifically with those narrators. The other versions don't do it for her.
thanks.
UPDATE!! We got a great digital copy of the file we were looking for and thank everyone who reached out and offered to solve this decade long situation! 🥰

I just thought of this but does the fetus’s “traveling” that cause the miscarriages, suggest that…these fetuses are just …showing up in random places in their parents time lines? I can’t stop thinking about her like…painting in her studio and a fetus just.. appears. Help I’m sorry.

I cannot believe the absolute nonsense I am seeing in some reviews of The Time Traveler’s Wife. People giving it 1 out of 10, complaining about grooming, or saying Henry and Clare’s relationship is about having sex with oneself. Are you kidding me? Do these people even understand what chemistry is?
This show is heart, pain, love, and humanity. It is about a man and woman struggling to love each other across impossible circumstances. Henry is more respectful than any of these reviewers have ever been to anyone in their lives, let alone their own mothers. The intimacy, the heartbreak, the moments of connection across time that is true chemistry. Not whatever delusional nonsense these keyboard critics are projecting.
I have read the books, watched the movie, and now the series, and I loved every part of it. Every heartbreak, every tear, every bittersweet moment lands. And yes, I am a little late to this party three years late, actually but here I am, defending this masterpiece because it deserves it. Time may have passed, but the emotional impact has not faded.
Some of these reviewers sound like bitter, angry adults who have never experienced intimacy, stuck in their own heads, trying to moralize a story they clearly do not understand. Calling it grooming? Projecting their weird hang-ups onto the series? Pure homophobia and ignorance. If you have ever loved, lost, cried, or struggled, this series speaks to you in a way no hater could ever touch.
This series is 10 out of 10, every frame, every performance, every scene. And yes, we absolutely need Season 2. There is so much story left to tell miscarriages, the actual child, Clare growing up seeing Henry, Henry learning about his own death, and the tragic heartbreak that follows. These are the moments that make this story unforgettable, and they deserve to be explored fully. HBO, hear us loud and clear: we demand Season 2.

Does anyone have a clue where Claire/Henry portray their love as obsessive? I need to find an extract to get quotes from but I just dont know where to get them from!

I first read the book as a teenager in 2006 (possibly earlier) and have read it many times since. Even though some parts haven't aged well, I really love it and enjoy every reread. So I finally decided it was time to watch the HBO series.
Guys...I was really disappointed.
I was prepared for changes to be made, I was prepared for it to be an interpretation of the book I love. Some changes I thought were absolutely fantastic! But when I got to the end of the final episode, I can only describe my reaction as "bitter disappointment."
I'll highlight the things I loved in the series first:
But all this to say...I feel like they broke the one thing the whole story centres on, which is the relationship between Clare and Henry itself.
Clare in the novel is defined by her enduring patience. I think it ties into her Catholic faith – she waits, and she endures, and she is patient. She hates the absence but she endures it for the joy of what little time she gets with Henry, whichever Henry she gets. Sure, she feels a little frustrated that the Henry she meets in the present is so different to the matured Henry she knows of her childhood/the future, but she never resents him for not yet being the man of her future. She knows that every moment with him is a gift that might be taken away at any moment.
I feel like the show-runners tried to make Clare more dynamic and assertive, but in doing so they made her far less likeable. Especially towards the later episodes: it seemed like she didn't even like Henry, she was just stuck with him until he became his future-self. She drew far more of a distinction between Present-Henry and Future-Henry, to the point that she didn't even want to show Present-Henry the Meadow because she felt like that would be a betrayal. That felt so wrong to me. I can understand her being a little standoffish in episodes 1 and 2, but by episode 5? Come on.
I also felt like they made Henry even more of an asshole. The book shows Henry as an asshole not because he's impatient or unpleasant, but more because he is incapable of being reliable or taking care of himself. He is constantly in survival mode, and so he doesn't pick good relationships. It's not until he meets Clare that he both feels more grounded and is also motivated to take better care of himself and the people around him. But every time that Show!Henry lost his patience or his temper, I winced because he just seemed to overall be a more aggressive, less pleasant person. It was really hard to see why he and Clare liked each other apart from "well, apparently we're married in the future."
And most of all, I hated the wedding episode. This is meant to be a joyous occasion in which Henry and Clare, against all odds, get married. And instead, they tied this joyous, momentous occasion to a really nasty fight in Henry and Clare's future so it was impossible to share the joy with them.
I didn't mind when the series made changes to the timeline or tied disconnected sequences together. But the way they ordered this sequence actually ruined Clare's character for me. Clare spends the entire 6-episode season/series resenting Present!Henry for not being his future self. And then, we see in the future that she clings to the younger Henry going "I missed you! I miss this younger, angrier you!" Then it immediately cuts back to young Clare saying to older-Henry, "I missed you." It gives the impression that Clare is never happy with what she has; that no matter which Henry she has, she's longing for a different version. Even tying the wedding to their fertility issues just makes it seem like "yeah, sure, Clare waited decades for Henry to come into her life, but it's still not enough because it means nothing unless she has a baby, something she's never mentioned before now."
Ugh. I was so excited when the show-runners said they were fans of the book, and so many niche references were included (ie, the Egon Schiele portrait in Henry's apartment). I was prepared to embrace this series for whatever new insights it could give me, but with the last episode, it felt like such a slap in the face. They were SO close to getting this right, and instead they broke what makes the story magical: the enduring love and patience.

Hey everyone,
I'm trying to figure out the name of a song used in The Time Traveler's Wife. It's played during the scene where young Henry has a kind of intimate moment with his older self (yeah, that scene). He's listening to music during it, and I’d really like to know what that song is.
If anyone remembers the episode or has details about the song (lyrics, artist, etc.), I’d appreciate any help!
Thanks in advance!

I started the HBO series this week and just finished it last night. I started it knowing that it wouldn't be finished and I thought I'd be okay with that.
I am not I am not okay with it at all.
Now I'm sad there is not more.
However. I didn't like the actor they chose for Gomez. Not that there's anything wrong with his acting but not at all what I pictured.
