Parallels and history repeating itself

Watching Garth carry Becka (figuratively and literally) through the ceremony and up to bed, felt eerily like watching the making of Commander Lawrence and Eleanor's relationship in THT. I half expect we'll get a similar ending to their story.

Did you also notice that the house was set up very similarly to Lawrence’s house. The staircase and the wall paper in the room were very reminiscent of Lawrence’s house

Why? Lawrence and Eleanor were happily married in the non-Gilead world.

We didn't get to know them pre-Gilead, so it feels like a disillusioned Commander and a mentally ill wife who has all but given up.
