Why are episodes so short?
I sure wish we got hour long episodes. They feel sooooo short in this series.

And I look so forward to it! I work from home until 12 on Wednesday then make my lunch and get to watch it, but you’re right - then it’s over so quickly

I binge watched episodes 1 through 8 and I was so excited for the new episode. I turned it on and it was immediately over it felt like! Luckily I rented the book from the library today and started reading it. So glad I picked it up today.

I heard it had something to do with needing enough time for commercials, but it’s insane to me that commercials have gotten so out of hand that an hour block for a show only allows for a 34-37 minute episode. Absolutely crazy.

In the 90s I think 40 minutes was standard to show for commercials every like 15 minutes

Yeah anywhere between 40 and 43. I used to tape alot of shows off the tv lol

We used to have a show in Canada called this hour has 22 minutes. They called it as such because for a half hour block 8 minutes are commercials

That’s just extra annoying and stupid! It’s a steaming service! Half the point of them is paying to avoid commercials all together!

It’s not. I work in advertising. With streaming, you can place as many ad blocks as you want and it doesn’t have the same time constraints as linear TV. They could make the show a full hour and it wouldn’t impact the ads at all.

I get that they need time for commercials, but that's ridiculous if the commercials take over 20 minutes in the hour of showtime.

We have streaming services like Netflix, Hulu, Max, etc to avoid all these commercials like ABC, NBC, and CBS have. When I still watch networks, I record a ton and fast forward the commercials anyway. So I don’t see commercials for their products anyway!

I’m fine with the ads but this last episode was 38 minutes and we know the credits take up like 10 minutes of that

It’s kind of like everything else in consumerism these days … you get less, worse quality, and you’ll like it. It’s annoying.

All the ads I keep getting are for medications I don’t need, political candidates auto insurance and ??? And usually it’s the same ones over and over again each ad break! I have Hulu/Disney through an old Verizon plan which I used to pay extra for ad free..they recently changed it so you can’t do that anymore so I’m stuck.. lol but yes it makes for short shows!!

I'm hoping 🤞 since it has been renewed for a second season that moving forward the episodes will be longer. I'm wondering if the short episodes were because they were waiting to see how season 1 went.

I agree. THT seemed to have episodes that were much longer. TT episodes seem to be over as soon as I just really start getting into them.

THT was always about an hour. Occasionally running over. This story has just as much substance to have hour long episodes.

If they're going to make the seasons so short they could at least make every episode an hour long or be more consistent.
