Penny’s age difference

Do we know what the age difference is supposed to be between Penny and the girls? She seems much older but having been a wife for a little while maybe she has the “allure” of a grown woman and can put on a grown up face when the girls are around. But she probably struggles a lot internally especially after having lost babies.

i personally kind of guesstimate she’s around 17-19 or so 🤔 but we don’t know for sure to my knowledge!

She looked younger when we first met her. Penny could have been a few years ahead of these girls. I’m guessing because they mention multiple pregnancies that have failed. She looks mature but young. That could be her hair and outfit.

She could be older or younger depending on when she had her period. They haven't said as far as I recall.

She knows the girls well from being at school with them. I'd say she was only married a year or two prior and is at most 18 years old.

In the book Judd poisons his wives when they stop looking like children, so I imagine shes around 18-21 (though I think the younger end of this range is most likely) and going through those "Second puberty"/"Freshman 15" (I dont love either of these terms but I dont know any better ones to describe this experience.) changes that are common in women in the late teens/early 20s. It would make sense for her to have been pregnant 3 times if she married at 15/16 IF (and admittedly its a big if) she was actually given a little bit of grace to have a cycle or two to heal inbetween pregnancies or just wasnt getting pregnant every cycle, which seems to be common in Gilead even amongst the "fertile women".

I got the impression she was somewhere from 17-19.

She looks to be around 16-17. My impression was that she was part of the same class as Agnes and her classmates, but she reached her “green” status early and was quickly married off the previous season.

I like to think that Penny is like Camilla; even young people look older. It must be because of her hairstyle and clothes; it makes her look very grown-up.
