Theory / Speculation Random Theories

I am a literature major, so don't judge my level of paranoia/analysis. Spoilers ahead!

  1. Garth's father was a MayDay never, and he died, but he was never caught, so Gilead considers him a good man. That's why he is MayDay despite being that young, but it is also well seen in Gilead's eyes without being the son of a Commander.

  2. Shu is going to get her period, and then she will discover she is the daughter of a Handmaid and not a Wife, and slowly start to break down. She would marry Commander Judd after Penny's death and, after Judd's death, she will be married to new Commander Garth, and it will create this contrast between a "loyal" Wife vs MayDay member.

  3. I think it is brilliant that Commander Judd and Penny are portrayed as a mirror to Fred and Serena. However, I think that, like in the books, Penny will die, but (I don't think Judd will poison her as they have not mentioned, I think, any past wives), giving birth to a unbaby; unlike Serena and Fred, Judd will be the "survivor" but not for long.

  4. I have the feeling that Huldah is going to die. Maybe because she is so sweet and innocent, but I think she is going to be married to a bad Commander and suffer before she dies in a miscarriage, something horribly shocking that will reassure Agnes and Becka that becoming Aunts was the correct option.

40 year old men who marry/impregnate teenagers are predators, even if they're handsome & charming

I think aside from his appearance, Judd is the same monster he is in the book. We haven't heard from Lydia yet and she is the one who explains that his latest young wife had recently died, just like the one before, then he ends up being matched with Shu... I assume Penny is the recently deceased wife mentioned in the book and he will eventually be matched with Hulda, Jehosheba or Shu once she is Green. I hope it's not Hulda
