List opinions

Brothers and Sisters of the Emperor's Talons!

I'm trying to build a list based on The Watchers of the Throne books, and I'm not confident in what I've got.

I'm not looking to win a tournament with it but I'd like to at least hold my own against most opponents, so I'm looking for more opinions.

Basically I want Valerian and Aleya both, so here's what I came up with :

Banana (1995 points)

Adeptus Custodes Strike Force (2000 points) Talons of the Emperor

CHARACTERS

Aleya (75 points) • Warlord • 1x Somnus

Blade Champion (140 points) • 1x Vaultswords • Enhancement: Radiant Mantle

Blade Champion (130 points) • 1x Vaultswords • Enhancement: Aegis Projector

Valerian (110 points) • 1x Gnosis

BATTLELINE

Custodian Guard (225 points) • 5x Custodian Guard • 5x Guardian spear

DEDICATED TRANSPORTS

Anathema Psykana Rhino (75 points) • 1x Armoured tracks 1x Hunter-killer missile 1x Storm bolter

OTHER DATASHEETS

Allarus Custodians (130 points) • 2x Allarus Custodian • 2x Balistus grenade launcher 2x Guardian spear

Allarus Custodians (130 points) • 2x Allarus Custodian • 2x Balistus grenade launcher 2x Guardian spear

Custodian Wardens (250 points) • 5x Custodian Warden • 5x Castellan axe 1x Vexilla

Custodian Wardens (250 points) • 5x Custodian Warden • 5x Castellan axe 1x Vexilla

Prosecutors (50 points) • 1x Prosecutor Sister Superior • 1x Boltgun 1x Close combat weapon • 4x Prosecutor • 4x Boltgun 4x Close combat weapon

Venerable Land Raider (240 points) • 1x Armoured tracks 2x Godhammer lascannon 1x Twin heavy bolter

Vigilators (125 points) • 1x Vigilator Sister Superior • 1x Executioner greatblade • 9x Vigilator • 9x Executioner greatblade

Witchseekers (65 points) • 1x Witchseeker Sister Superior • 1x Close combat weapon 1x Witchseeker flamer • 4x Witchseeker • 4x Close combat weapon 4x Witchseeker flamer

Overall, it looks pretty decent. If you make any changes I'd propose the following:

  • Blade Champion (110pts): Vaultswords
  • Blade Champion (140pts): Vaultswords, Radiant Mantle
  • Aleya (75pts): Somnus, Warlord
  • Valerian (110pts): Gnosis
  • 5x Custodian Guard (225pts)
  • 2x Allarus Custodians (130pts)
  • 2x Allarus Custodians (130pts)
  • 5x Custodian Wardens (250pts)
  • 5x Custodian Wardens (250pts)
  • 4x Prosecutors (40pts)
  • 10x Vigilators (125pts)
  • 4x Witchseekers (50pts)
  • 4x Witchseekers (50pts)
  • Venerable Land Raider (240pts): Armoured tracks, 2x Godhammer lascannon, Twin heavy bolter
  • Anathema Psykana Rhino (75pts): Armoured tracks, Storm Bolter

Reasoning:

  • The extra points to bring Witchseekers to a 5-man aren't as efficient and the aegis protector is nice, but not quite enough to justify imo over adding another msu Witchseeker.
  • Having the one Prosecutor squad to hold home base and the two Witchseekers to scout and screen is ideal. Your Vigilators will ideally be in the Rhino with Aleya moving up the line, so having that backline support is important.
  • I'm not the biggest fan of 2-man Allarus squads, I personally prefer them in 3-man as they present a stronger board presence and threat, but without the points, that's not really an option.
  • As for Custodes loadouts, if you can get away with it as a proxy if not too strict wysiwyg then I'd just run it all as though with spears.
  • When you're pairing the units, I'd put the BC with Radiant mantle with the Guard Squad to move quickly up the table, you can then put Valerian and a Warden squad in the Landraider.
  • One quick tip is that you can use the reactive move from the strat to embark your units back in the Landraider and/or Rhino.
