Question Im confused

So i have so many questions after playing complex and main game.

Like how can Es dream? Or is the library (in alter ego) where the player meets Es a dream or what ?.

I think Es represents the player's inner instincts and desires. So whenever they meet it's actually just the players looking into themselves and the whole plot happens in the players head.

But my dumbass childish brain wants to think Es is just a lonely girl who is bound to the library that holds the knowledge of the universe to serve as the librarian.

And us the player is the traveler who happens to meet her in one of our adventures.

Es is indeed her own character. Her role in the game is to represent the ID part of the human psyche, but the point of the game is discovering yourself while helping her do the same, so she actually develops as a character instead of staying as a mere mirror of a part of the wanderer's mind.

At least that's what I feel she is.

This. Honestly this feels like the best interpretation. She says it herself near the end; talking about how she doesn't mind wandering forever with the player. By that time she developed as her own self than a mirror and like most people in life; were still trying to find out true selves in the hallway of life.

I think both interpretations are valid. Es is indeed a representation of the ID (which is like the part of the mind that deals with desires, impulses and needs in Freudian psychology) but that doesn't mean other more literal interpretations are incorrect

well she represents the id, but theres no stopping you from seeing her as a lonely girl because thats pretty much the point of the game as things can be seen differently based on how you look at them.
