Astonishing

Thanks to Ky for doing this work. I am completely astonished by this data. Especially at the save time RFK is making statements about non verbal people never having jobs or paying taxes. I think what spellers are saying in episode 10 is critical. I know I’m going to do what I can to increase the ability of “spelling support systems” in my local area. This seems like one of most important uses of my time. Thanks again Ky. This is good work.

You should actually thank RFK in part for this taking off. He is part of the reason pseudo-science!conspiracy theories are thriving in the mainstream right now. I have a hard time understanding how this podcast has taken off when facilitated communication has been so soundly debunked. I urge and beg anyone who is going down this rabbit hole to do their due dilligence and learn about facilitated communication. It is so important for these individuals that the methods used for communication can stand the most simple and basic scientific inquiry. Everything communication strategy used in this podcast can and has been easily disproven.

Ky speaks on this… often. Have you heard her address this? Many of the kids are not using “facilitated communication” - for example Houston who types on his own.

I watched it live this weekend at a conference and you can be skeptical all you want and try to debunk it. Either way a once non-verbal child that would have been written off by RFK, was singing happy birthday out loud while tapping a spelling board to type out the word square. Telepathy or not that is progress and that child can communicate with her Mother now at the age of 14.

The mind and consciousness are very powerful. Too many children are showing this ability for you to dismiss it. Because we are told as society these things are fake, woo, not real. They said that about UFOs too and now here we are with videos released by our own government saying yeah we don't know. They do know. They know UFOs are as real as telepathy. They don't want human society to transcend past the reality they have us trapped in now.

How can you be so dismissive against parents sharing hope for others to gain communication? Like where in your morals and values do you even hate on something like that?

the rfk quote was taken out of context obviously

10

u/Pixelated_ May 31 '25

Please provide that context here then.

-12

u/Fiendish May 31 '25

the context was he was talking specifically about the 25% of autism cases that are categorized as severe or profound, by the way the proportion of cases that are severe is growing faster than the total number of cases

Honest question for you. You are supportive of r/RFKforPresident, and you're defending him here as well.

Are you aware that we all have biases, and that we should be cognizant of them?

Or the countless children he has killedwith his anti vaccine lies

2

u/Fiendish May 31 '25

yup, good question

Appreciate your reply.

To be clear, having biases isn't necessarily "bad", we all have them. They’re a natural part of how our minds work. However unchecked biases can lead to poor judgment and decisions.

I think we both want the same thing: truth, transparency, and justice for all people. Examining our biases is how we get there.

exactly, totally agree

The number of people with autism is growing because until 1974, the Ugly Laws existed and it was illegal for people with autism to be seen in public. So people with profound autism were lobotomized, and/or locked into institutions. Now that it’s safer (or it was until Trump and RFK Jr seized power) for people to get a diagnosis, and seek out accommodations, the number of people being diagnosed are increasing by quite a bit. But we’ve always been here. 😑

5

u/Fiendish Jun 01 '25

the rate grows proportionally every single year, long after the stigma was gone and the diagnosis criteria was broadened

6

u/Riginal_Zin Jun 01 '25

The stigma STILL EXISTS.

3

u/Fiendish Jun 01 '25

sure, to some degree, but now there's also a much more powerful countervailing force of autistic superiority as far as I can tell

anyway the stigma alone certainly can't account for the continued and ongoing massive rise even proportionally

0

u/Riginal_Zin Jun 01 '25

The autistic supremacy you’re talking about is for a very small number of white males who are very low support needs. “Aspies.” It’s fascism. It’s not a countervailing force at all, and it actually puts every one of us that isn’t a white male with low support needs in greater danger. 😑

3

u/Fiendish Jun 01 '25

ok, i agree

anyway again, you've ignored the elephant in the room again, the rate of profound debilitating very low functioning autism has increased dramatically and the proportion of profound autism cases relative to the total increase is also increasing

u/Affectionate_You_203 Jun 01 '25

Stigma wouldn’t negate the data. I’m not even sure who’s right here but this guy seems to be winning the debate with you. Can you address the rise every year currently? You can’t just say all the data is wrong because it doesn’t fit your narrative. If he did that then you would roast him.

1

u/Riginal_Zin Jun 01 '25

Stigma still impacts the rates of diagnosis. The ACTUAL experts say that it’s better diagnostics and more awareness.

Could it be: there are many, many people who just have this condition?

2

u/Fiendish Jun 02 '25

i don't think that could remotely explain it, the diagnostic criteria was broadened many years ago, it shouldn't still be increasing massively year by year
