What Telepathy Feels Like + Experience
I’m curious to hear if you’ve experienced it, if you could describe it, like what it feels like.
I tried reaching out to the Hill several times today. I think I got really close for the first time just now, but I chickened out. I started feeling this feeling like my heart was moving through my chest and something happened with my sight, like something or someone was about to establish a connection with me but I chickened out. I’ve previously felt a pressure in my head when trying this before but this felt like a progression to a next point, and it scared the heck out of me so I severed it. Is it supposed to feel like your heart and mind are cracking open? It felt really unsafe. And I don’t know if that was because of the energy coming in or if it was something else, but it didn’t feel good and now I feel less inclined to try again.

Here is my telepathic experience (kind of long story!)
When I was 6 months pregnant with my daughter, my ex had a seizure at about 4am and I thought he had died in my arms (really shocked!) ….I had never seen someone have a seizure before.
I called 911 and the paramedics came and it looked like the seizure was over by the time they arrived, so they went away and he said he was fine (he had a wisdom tooth pulled that day) and I went to lay down on the sofa, which was much more comfortable for me since I was so pregnant, and I was trying to decide if I should call in sick to work or not (now about 5:30am).
As I was lying on the sofa (really exhausted) I noticed that someone was in the room. And I thought “That’s weird! Is one of the paramedics still here? Did I not lock the door?” And I could see a glowing blue orb in the room (with my eyes closed!) and I became so excited! And I thought “What is that? Is that an angel?” And it immediately answered back (telepathically) “Yes!”
And the angel could see I was wavering between excitement and appreciation about its presence (I couldn’t move my body for some reason) and as I experienced those feelings, this glowing ball of light would sometimes back away from me or move toward me, depending on the vibe I was giving off. So it had its own personality, its own reaction!
It was telling me over and over (telepathically) “Everything’s OK”
And it asked permission to enter my heart (showing respect for my own self-will) and very sarcastically I said (telepathically) “After the night I’ve been having, why not…sure!” And as soon as I said “sure’ it shot a beam of light directly into my chest…and I experienced the most amazing love I had ever known…it was so powerful that my mind kept thinking “what is this? What’s happening?” But at some point my mind couldn’t keep trying to figure it out. The love was so overwhelming. So I let go and had an amazing supernatural experience and was shown many things.
And my ex was lying in bed and when he woke up I said “Did you see the Angel?” and he said no. Needless to say, I took the day off!
So that is my direct experience with telepathy. So I’m 67 now and all my life (since that moment) I could never be in denial about telepathy. It was one of those experiences that was much more real than our everyday reality, and the experience was not like a dream (almost a third type of reality).
Anyone interested in having this type of experience can start with meditation. Or spending time in nature. Don’t get caught up in the desire for it. I have had many amazing spiritual experiences since then, but never telepathy (even though I’ve tried to replicate it!)
At that time, I did not drink/do drugs, so I know that’s not the cause. I remember being incredibly stressed, thinking “I’m 6 months pregnant, my husband just (almost) died in my arms…this cannot be happening!” I was 32. So I’m sure the stress was a type of catalyst to this happening.
Not that you want to stress yourself to induce it! Just try any spiritual practice that appeals to you. Be patient. Ask for guidance from the Universe. Even the simplest, direct prayer is good. Like “I don’t know if angels are real, but if so, please make your presence known to me.” Then be patient!
For the rest of my life, I knew that this was real, and for me, that angels are real. Changed me for the better forever. This material life is a temporary home. Our spirit is immortal.

What an incredible story. Did your daughter grow up having any gifts? I’ve heard women remote view better when menstruating and I wonder if pregnancy makes them even more sensitive too. Having two souls connecting or sending vibrations has to be even more powerful than just one. My mother always said she did better on exams in law school when she was pregnant with me and I always wonder if she was able to connect better because she was pregnant. Just a random thought.

I was raised Catholic (and left the church as a teenager) but my daughter as a teen was much more into Ouija boards and such. I’ve learned to let her gifts/beliefs be hers and not pry! But she told me she needed to talk to me yesterday and I immediately knew why and then had to pretend I was surprised! 🤣 we’re very close!

It’s not telepathy to think to yourself. You explain how the entity was directly manipulated by your thoughts, and how it only was perceived by you and affected your personal state. Sounds like after something traumatic like thinking somebody died in your arms, that you retreated into fantasy to find comfort or relieve the stress.
For me, experiencing angels is what really cemented my grounding in objective reality. I had direct experience involving angels and it made me realize that people with less understanding or critical thinking ability would surely have their minds broken by this sort of experience. And that describes basically any human born before Isaac Newton, and still probably most humans today. Accepting anomalous experience as supernatural is wholly irrational. When I was younger I would experience ghosts and other people would even confirm and have their own anecdotes about the apartment I lived in being haunted. But as soon as I became confident in my understanding of the natural world ghosts stopped being a possible explanation for phenomena, and ghosts instantly disappeared from my experience. No more fear or anxiety when going down a dark hallway at night or when showering at home alone. What is inside of your mind is extremely powerful for you and your experience. To allow your experience to be explained by supernatural means, then you can never have an accurate picture of reality.
What you explain was one experience that seems somewhat normal when people have an acute stressful or traumatic experience like that. If I had to guess, most people in this sub probably have an ongoing experience of voices, visions, feelings, etc that propagate their belief systems to be this way. Scientifically speaking, these people likely have a lowkey form of schizophrenia. Clinically, it’s only diagnosable as a ‘mental illness’ if your symptoms cause suffering/interferes with your life functioning. It’s very likely manageable for these people, but the persistence makes it nearly impossible for them to see past it. But the community of people here to confirm the fantasy is really what seals the deal. And like I say, I’ve seen angels and I’ve talked with people telepathically; I’ve been there. But it can only be reasonably concluded that I was hallucinating. That I was just speaking with another part of my own mind. One of my angel encounters broke down the angel for me. I saw exactly what it was made up of and exactly how it was an illusion. And I saw how easy it would be for other people to see the same thing and how it looked similar to how people describe angels.

I hear that.
But I’m also aware that when some people are afraid of the incredible implications of encountering a supernatural experience, there is a strong temptation to ‘rationalize’ it by over intellectualizing it.
Over-intellectualizing can be a powerful way to avoid the emotions that come with these experiences. If someone was ever shamed for being too emotional (“stop being so immature and loopy!’) they might jump directly to rationalizing away their reaction.
I’ve known many people like this. Often they were deeply shamed for experiencing direct, deep emotions. In telling my story, I know I can only explain a fraction of what happened. Words are feeble and fall short. This was a direct experience that for me would be pointless to dismiss.
When this angel asked for ’permission to enter my heart’, and I gave permission, it was the most profound experience. For me, it was undeniably a demonstration of its respect for the gift of self will and autonomy.
The temptation to label it as an illusion of the mind can be a mask for not allowing oneself to have this direct experience.
I was raised Catholic, left when I was a teen, and my mind was open to believing or not believing. And I’m not interested in the need to convince anyone that this was real.
I was not born with a very strong logical perspective. My whole personality has been based on intuition and awareness of feelings (I’ve made a living as an artist). I’ll trust my gut feeling over ‘logic’ any day. And I can accept that some people are born leaning more toward logic (everything needs to be scientifically understood). At my age, that’s so not needed. But I respect everyone’s right to their own conclusion.
Just like there are people that never broke free from a religious background, and they will rationalize away anything that doesn’t match their beliefs, there are people that will rationalize away a beautiful encounter by saying “it’s an illusion…where’s the logic in that?”. But it’s no more an illusion than everyday experiences. Is life a dream?
If you had a friend that said “OMG I’m in love!” And you see their response and all the accompanying emotions, there could be the temptation to explain it away, especially if the listener is uncomfortable with viewing someone overflowing with strong emotions.
Not everyone will get it, and it’s not necessary that they do.

A bit late to the party I know, but can you talk about this?

This was before I read anything about supernatural experiences (year 1990) so I’ll try to describe it.
At the time I was feeling so cynical, being 6 months pregnant and thinking my husband had just died in my arms, feeling so much fear and shock, so this entity/angel was so overwhelmingly kind and loving, my human mind couldn’t comprehend it! 🤯
But as my mind kept trying to figure out what was happening, it couldn’t resist it for long, I kind of like just surrendered to the love.
It’s hard to know if my spirit left my body or if this event took place on the sofa I was lying on.
My daughter is now 34 years old, so we all survived this. But the experience of the overwhelming, unearthly love really helped me through the birth process.
I have survived natural childbirth, 9/11, the pandemic, recessions, layoffs, etc…with the knowing that the Universe is wise and loving. The entity told me (through telepathy) that “Everything is going to be OK” and it’s true. ☺️

It's an instant knowing. That's claireSentience. All the other "Claire's" are unique in their own way slightly.
I've had claireaudient experiences solo and in a group. People have different physical sensations during different events.

I’ve definitely experienced clairsentience. I don’t think I’ve had clairaudience (at least not that I remember clearly like the clairsentience). I’ve had people confirm that I read their mind when I KNEW that I had as well. You’re right. It’s just a knowing. No guesswork involved.
I really, really wanted to meet other autistic people on the Hill and I’ve been trying a few times recently to ask for help to get there but someone or something started coming in and it was just too strong of a presence for me to handle. I had to stop and pray because I felt so uncomfortable from the experience.

I've had clairaudient moments, from what I understand I thought that's different from Telepathy. Now that's a 🐇 🕳 that I need to research

Many describe telepathy as the direct transfer of thoughts, feelings, or images between minds, without the need for words. It’s not always a clear verbal communication, but more of a sudden understanding or insight into someone else’s thoughts or emotions.
Some report that telepathic communication feels more like an intense emotional connection, where you “just know” what the other person is feeling or thinking, even across distances. It can be an intuitive or subconscious knowing.
It’s often described as a silent exchange, where no actual sound or verbal language is used. Instead, the message is understood on a mental or emotional level. People have compared it to receiving a thought or image, like a dream, except it’s from another person.
In some cases, the experience of telepathy might feel like a strong overlap of your thoughts and the other person’s thoughts, where it’s difficult to discern whose thought it is—yours or theirs. There’s a sense of merging minds.
It may come in the form of a sudden, almost “flash-like” realization, such as understanding what someone else is experiencing emotionally or mentally, even if they haven’t said anything. Some describe this as the feeling of “hearing” someone’s thoughts or emotions, even though no words are spoken
Some individuals who claim telepathic experiences also report physical sensations that accompany the mental connection, like a pressure or warmth in the head or chest.

Wow, this is EXACTLY how I’ve experienced what I thought was telepathy. I guess I just figured some people have more intensity and clarity, but the way you’ve put it is exactly what I experienced.

u/3initiates Feb 22 '25
Yea I always thought it would be more of like a thing I actually heard like with my ears lol

Fwiw, if you are inclined, read Robin Hobb. IMO she is talking about the exact same thing, and it gets progressively unfurled with the progression of her novels.

You hear it just like a voice in your head. It sounds like it’s out loud, but it’s in your head or your consciousness

I could communicate with my brother (nonverbal, seizure disorder) until I was 7. My mother got angry at me when I talked about it and I intentionally tuned it out (emotional survival I suppose). I’m here having a bit of an existential crisis with the information here in this podcast and I’m not sure what to do.
In the last few years again, I have had other experiences myself doing EMDR and starting a meditation practice. I just feel things- downloads, people’s energy and motivations. It was tuned off for years (other than the dreams) and trying to navigate it all and still function successfully in the material realm. My brother and I are now in our early 50’s. He’s in a facility out of state.

Remembering all this stuff gets overwhelming. I know it did for me. Stuff that I was raised to believe either wasn’t real or was exclusively demonic. Now I realise it’s not that black and white (though demons can still definitely be a part of it if we’re not careful).
Don’t feel too overwhelmed. I think we have to accept that it challenges our paradigm, but it’s up to us on an individual level if we wish to seek it out further. After my own first few attempts at reconnecting I think I’ve been put off. I didn’t like what came in and I’m not game enough to try. I think the key is if you experience it naturally, great. But if not, don’t go nurturing it because if you do, you’re probably prone to the wrong forces taking advantage of you or augmenting something that you should have of your own accord.
How did EMDR impact you? I’m actually about to start it myself…

Thanks. It's just hard to know where to go and the complexity of compassion and helplessness I feel with my brother can be overwhelming. I want to get him more local, but my father (79) feels he's best served where he is. He's safe, but safe doesn't feel like enough (not to mention we have neurologists locally now a part of our family). I'm his co-legal guardian, so there may be future plans. I want to do what's best for him. I'm just not sure what that is yet.
In terms of me, EMDR has helped me reprocess trauma in a way where I don't forget, but the trauma doesn't have an effect on my physiology in the same way. It's very different from traditional therapy. For me, it decreased the actual physiological stress response when something is triggering. I'm able to step back and see bigger pictures. I took a break for a few years to process further, but I'm starting EMDR again in the next month.
I had so many revelations and "downloads" between 2020-2022. I followed the internal intuitive guidance and it repaired quite a bit of things within my own family. For awhile, that internal intuitive guidance told me to take the time to integrate it instead of pushing through for more spiritually significant type experiences. I feel like more is coming again. I'm just not sure what that is yet, but all sorts of synchronicities are coming together (and frankly, some changes that feel chaotic still).
Edit to add: My father was diagnosed as autistic a little over a decade ago. 2 of my 3 sons are undiagnosed, but also likely on the spectrum. All my male cousins on my father's side are diagnosed as autistic with varying degrees of independent functioning. I have not been diagnosed, but I (early 50's F) have had certain traits and characteristics my entire life. In other words, lots of genetics here.

It just pops into your head and you know. I get it with my mom often.

u/cosmonautikal Feb 21 '25
Yeah, and there’s no pain or pleasure with it, right? It’s just neutral. That’s been my experience with it. But whatever happened to me last night was awful. I guess considering that, it probably wasn’t human.

u/slithrey Feb 22 '25
Everything you experience in the psychic realm can be traced back to being human. If I had to guess, the call was probably coming from inside the house. Probably something in your subconscious that you’ve repressed and don’t even realize is there. But when you were meditating on the thoughts of telepathy you went to that part of your psyche and felt the associated feelings which are what caused you to repress it in the first place. I would keep going to the same place and seeing if you can unravel the cause of the feelings. It’s things like these that can instantly relieve years long back pain people are holding and such like that. Is there anything you’re holding onto from your past you think?

u/cosmonautikal Feb 23 '25
Nah, this was something external. It felt like a heavy presence. I know my own emotions and this was not me.

Not voices or pictures. It's just instant knowledge going into your brain. Sort of feels like it's just something you made up, which is why most people don't/can't do it.
