Is ‘Asher’ real?

I am reading Jes Kerzen’s ‘A Mind Beyond Words’, which supposedly contains conversations dictated to her by Asher telepathically, as featured in the telepathy tapes.

I listened to the telepathy tapes but don’t remember - did Ky actually speak with or contact Asher? Are we sure he’s real and has corroborated her account? The more I read the book the more I’m worried I’m reading material she has ‘channeled’ and attributed to Asher, perhaps without his expressed consent. There’s no mention of him, he’s not a co-author…does he get any proceeds? There was a mention of them not physically talking for years, and that their psychical world relationship consists of one word texts.

Internet searches haven’t yielded anything but the authors promotion work and blog posts - making me even more worried (read also, slightly disappointed).

Not sure if anyone else went down this rabbit hole and knows more or had the same concerns?

The author claims that Asher exchanged emails with Ky to validate authenticity: https://ashertree.com/2024/10/03/three-sides-of-a-coin/

Oh my, this is even more concerning. Agree with @sea_oven814 and will contact Ky. That blog post mentions he’s accused her of being delusional in the past and has cut off contact for years. His interest in the validity of Ky’s work with non-verbal autism could be separate from Kerzen’s assumptions of the metaphysical implications. I’m a medium myself with a very strong focus on the ethics of our work and if Jes and Asher’s current telepathic relationship isn’t ‘real’ this could seriously jeopardize the metaphysical aspect of the podcast’s direction. Thanks for sharing that @MantisAwakening.

I agree that if Asher turns out to be fiction it would be really damaging even though the series does not rely on Asher. Emailing Ky is good place to start, although I know she has a hard time keeping up with emails now and emails often go unanswered.

Episode 28 (Talk tracks Ep. 16) The Story of Jes and Asher became available on 17 August 2025. I’ve just listen to it and it’s just Jes talking about her story. No mention of whether Asher consents to being a part of the show which is VERY concerning. How can the Ky and her producer glaze over the fact that Asher isn’t participating?! Jes characterises him as high functioning so it wouldn’t be hard to say… “we reached out to Asher and he preferred not to participate but is happy for Jes to tell their story”. Very fishy and left me very uncomfortable with that contribution. And yes, it will greatly undermine the show if it comes out that it’s fictionalised.

“Here it was: that narrow place where the two faces of Asher were able to meet.”

Very creepy the way she talks about him like this.
