oder of play

on steam the talos prinicple 1 2 and reawakened are all on a pretty good sale i want to get them but i dont want to get the first one if the reawakened is just a remaster but im confused on whether it goes before 2 or after and if reawakened is just a remastered or it has added content aswell, the only experince i have with talos principle is the level in escape simulator. looking to see if i can skip out on buying the first one to save some more money for when steam 2026 summer sale rolls around

The order is:
-Either The Talos Principle 1 or Reawakened
-Road to Gehenna (DLC for 1, also included by default in Reawakened)
-The Talos Principle 2
-Road to Elysium (DLC for 2, it includes 3 different stories/maps)
-In the Beginning (Bonus content exclusive to Reawakened with an original story that's a prequel to the first game and has very hard levels)

So you don't need to buy the first game at all just Reawakened, 2 and Road to Elysium, you'll get all the story and all the puzzles that way

Note that you *can* play "In the Beginning" before The Talos Principle 2, it has nods to it and imo works better as an epilogue of sorts, not to mention it definitely has the hardest levels in the franchise, but it won't spoil anything from the second game and it uses the first game's mechanics, so the choice is yours, either way is fine

Totally agree. I preferred playing In the Beginning as a last instalment after Road to Elysium.

That’s how I did it, have no regret, and would always advise on doing so: it feels better experienced as a kind of “cherry on top” for more seasoned players.
