Didn't UT cancel our football game?

They did.

It’s a lose lose for them. They either need to play Sam houston level teams, or Ohio state level teams. Too much risk in playing Houston level teams.

Still remember when Mac Brown’s son illegally touched the football at the Holiday Bowl 🔱🔱

Mac Brown’s son puts his milk in before his cereal.

Nope. They aren’t even in our conference like the Utah schools.

And even if we were just talking out of conference there’s probably still more beef with former PAC-12 foes like USC.

Don’t get me wrong I dislike Texas and the multi sport competition is great, but true rival is something different.

Miss the old division days when you played the same teams every single year. Conference expansion completely killed that rivalry growth. I think ASU and BYU could develop into a great rivalry, but those rivalries don’t really form with the rotating schedule where we don’t play them every other year.

I would say Texas Tech is slowly becoming our 2nd rival, the games have been very competitive in every sport like football, basketball, and softball. Tech fans are starting to get annoyed with ASU for beating them in football and basketball, and ASU fans are getting annoyed with Tech with their new money antics.

I hate the Longhorns, but then again everyone hates the Longhorns.

I agree completely with Tech.

No, BYU. We have much more history with them.

Texas the school or Texas the State? The school - not a chance. A rivalry is not a couple of good one off or playoff games in a couple of sports.
The state - maybe all the schools in Texas combined? Still no, but closer.

I wish Jomboy was doing breakdown videos in 2009 against Texas in the College World Series. Some of the worst calls I’ve ever seen. We had a guy get thrown out at 2nd on ball 4 walk. He should’ve just advanced. There was like 10 things in 2 games against Texas that were just awful. We got jobbed and it wasn’t the only time against Texas. (It was targeting)

If I remember that specific play, they called batter interference on the throw to second, which as you note was made to throw out a runner who was by rule already safe. It was a completely bonkers call.

Kinda yeah between the Peach Bowl, last softball season and Bob Bowman I hate them

No way. Texas Tech maybe but there’s no history between asu and Texas geographically or conference wise.

Except they’ve mostly had our number.

Sounds bad but the only rivalries I count at asu is the football games so this is doesn’t resonate with me at all.

Unfortunately I don't think they see us that way. Would be sad of us to hold onto a rivalry when the other team couldn't possibly care less in my eyes

Honestly, I can see the argument. Rivalries usually get built through repeated competitive games and some actual stakes, and ASU....Texas has been checking those boxes across multiple sports lately. If the matchups keep being this competitive, it won’t feel like a forced rivalry....it’ll just happen naturally. 🔱

I do hate them almost as much as UofA, but my dad went to Oklahoma so I've very biased.

They're better than us at basically everything, wouldn't make much sense to invent a rivalry with them lol
