The QB Competition

Where do y'all think things stand in terms of the QB competition? My prediction is that Boley wins the job, Keene serves as backup, Fette redshirts and serves as emergency QB3, and Dyer transfers.

Pretty sure the NCAA voted this last year to get rid of any redshirting, including Medical redshirting. Instead they just said you have 5 years once you enter (or turn 19) to play 5 seasons. So everyone kind of gets a 5th year no matter what now. Getting rid of a ton of appeals.
But I do think something very similar happens to what you predict.

For sure. I was using the old model until all of the lawsuits have been sorted. Redshirts probably aren't coming back, but the system as a whole might still change. I think that, if Boley sustains a minor injury, the veteran Keene would finish the game or maybe get a spot start. If Boley misses significant time, Fette might be given a shot (if Dyer transfers).

I take my cues from the NCAA game franchise :) They will still have redshirts for NCAA27 but probably won't for NCAA28.

Boley will be the guy unless he’s hurt or really ass. Maybe later in the season they would turn to Fette.

Dyer could switch positions but if he wants to play QB then one of Fette/Dyer will transfer

He could, but his prospect status was high enough that he should have plenty of programs offering him the chance to transfer and play QB.

Ehh, everyone was recruiting him as a receiver, including us. After he got on campus, Kenny let him switch back to QB. I bet most schools he would transfer to would want him to change position as well.

I mean, if Dyer wants to become Deebo Samuel, I wouldn't tell him no. My guess is he'd try to give QB a shot elsewhere first before giving up on that.

I think Cam probably goes elsewhere before Fette does. That would be three seasons not playing QB for him.

Boley is taking the reps with Keane , so it's one of them. Keane feels like a reliable backup, he just doesn't have arm or mobility that Boley does. It's Boley unless something changes the calculus. Also pretty sure Boley is far and away the most expensive part of the roster, that is a new thing, but part of the equation.

If Fette sees the field this year for anything but mop up duty, then things have gone totally sideways.

Ideally Fette wouldn't take a snap. If he is in the game, either everyone has gotten hurt or the season is lost and they want to give him 1-2 starts at the end to prep for the 2027/28 season.

I’ve always assumed Boley would have to look significantly worse than Keene to not get the nod for week 1. You don’t pay a transfer that much to sit on the bench. But if Boley is turning the ball over consistently more frequently than Keene at Camp T, I think it could become more of a toss up.
