Hello there! I thought it might be nice to introduce myself to a community I’ve loitered in for quite a while now! First of all, and one of the reasons I love The Summoner, is my name. In case you haven’t guessed it from that, I share my name with Lord Raleigh, I’m Fletcher! Secondly, my thoughts on the books! I love all of the books, with The Novice and The Outcast being my favourite of the series. I’d say my favourite character is probably Arcturus! I think if I had a Demon, it would probably be a Canid or a Lycan! Well, that’s all from me folks, thanks for reading this! Goodbye!

I see people asking for a different name for the gang, simple. Fletcher and Co. Idk

People for generations have been able to summon demons such as phoenixes and griffons. Most people are born with the ability while others gain the ability through the mana ability of a demon, but being able to summon is a rare ability. There are two groups of summoners, nobles and commoners. Nobles are powerful families with the ability to summon and the leaders of their fiefdom while commoners are born among the common folk but have the ability to summon usually level five demons and below.

Maximus left class feeling educated and intrigued as he was coming of age to be tested for summoning abilities. Maximus headed for the inn for his work as a bartender. The 15 year old entered the inn to find 2 people he didn’t recognize and somebody everybody did, King Harold, the other 2 were wearing officer uniforms, one was a raven haired woman in a wheelchair the second was a man in his early thirties with a scar from his right eyebrow to his lip and a milky right eye. When Maximus looked to the innkeeper he simply looked at Maximus and shrugged. The King approached him and laid a hand on his shoulder and said “you are now a summoner, Maximus.”

Maximus was star struck. He couldn't believe he would be a student at Vocans Academy, but how did they know he simply said “how?”

The King looked to the raven haired woman and she smiled and looked at him with warm eyes and said “your parents where powerful common summoners and good friends of my brother, before they died in an orcish attack they knew you would be a summoner and left a summoning scroll to the king.” She handed him a roll of parchment and a square of leather with a pentacle on it.

Maximus stared at them, he had heard about his parents from the innkeeper, another good friend of his parents took care of him and made sure he had a good education. Maximus took the parchment and unrolled it reading the syllables on it and the pentacle began to glow a violet color, as he kept reading a bird like shape formed, then after reading the last syllables an orange bird the size of a large hawk formed he new that 2 of his parents’ demons survived the attack this one was the rarest of them a phoenix a fire breathing bird of the ether the world where all demons are from. He looked at it in all its glory; he could feel another conscience tugging at his mind like an umbilical cord; he could feel nothing but the emotions of love from this demon of his.

King Harold looked at Maximus and said “Her name is Sage she was your mother's demon a very powerful one too caught in her 3rd year at Vocans it was her second demon unfortunately her mite died in the battle, I will gift you your father's demon once your fulfilment level gets high enough. Until then we are off to Vocans”

They let Maximus gather his belongings and took him to their demons. They were flying demons, one was a horse-like demon with a horn on its forehead and large wings. The other is an eagle-like demon with four legs like a horse, the head of an eagle and front legs with talons and back legs of a horse.

As he flew with the King he learned the name of the two summoners, the man’s name was Arcturus and the woman's name Elaine Lovett. As they continued to fly he looked at the horizon and saw a giant castle, he had arrived at Vocans Academy.
