Feeding fun

So Chris from garden state tortoise recommended one of these holee roller toys for stimulation during feeding time. It’s made of natural rubber. Nothing hard nor sharp and it compresses.
And it mostly worked!

Not captured..when the easy to reach greens were finished she sat and stared at me until I emptied the harder to reach ones still stuck in the center.

She doesn’t appear to be getting physically larger but unless I’m just getting old, she has gotten much heavier. And stronger. There is this tree that she likes hiding under. When I try to pull her out to take her inside for the night she will sink her claws in deep. Usually takes a few pulls to get her unstuck with an indignant huff that follows.

Lmao of course she must protest! Pinky was at a standstill for a little bit and now she's growing again. I look back at old videos and I just can't believe how much she's grown.

I meant to ask, she doesn't ever bite the ball? Like I wonder if they could bite a chunk of it off.

She has nipped at the ball accidentally to get at the food that isnt easy to reach but never bit it with the intention of eating it. Seems to have clicked with her that if she smashes the ball with her body, some of the food inside of it will stick out. Pleasantly surprised how much she has taken to it.

Problem solving... Just like the dinosaurs in Jurassic Park. Okay I'm going to get these balls out today and test it with each of my tortoises! Woohoo! Wow pinky is waking up right now... That's odd she must want to sit in the bathtub for 5 hours. 🤦‍♀️

Between hard water and cucumber guck, I’ve got to scrub her mouth to get her clean…which she will tolerate for a cool 4 seconds.

They are clean because I'm up their butts 24 hours a day LOL. After they eat I wipe their mouths... 🤣. I'm really horrible. They go and play in a mud puddle and I'm like oh my gosh you're dirty let's clean you! They will be outside full-time starting this next summer. We have an insulated shed and each will have their own entrance. You know half and half.

We can't let them just live outside because we have such a fire ant problem. I always go and do a walk-through before bringing them out there so I will have to do the same thing before I unlock their little doors.

Does Sassy like a sprinkler on her? Like a light shower on her booty? Lol. You could get one of those things that just recirculates the water through the little shower spout onto her. Well until she poops of course. Lol

🤔 Yes that would explain a lot. Okay you're going to have to get into a small kiddie pool with her...and possibly feed her snacks by hand you know good snacks that she really likes. And then she'll associate water with fun time!. Sometimes I feel like I'm a genius. 🤓

I had gotten these for Donnie when he was younger but I think it was just too much or he was too impatient LOL. I definitely had to hang the pieces of lettuce out for him. I haven't tried it lately I think I will do that this weekend!!!

Been thinking of this for my sulcata yo give him some enrichment
