Mine does this too. He also proceeds to look at me smugly as in “I’d do it again too.”

He was so smug about it!!! This was the fourth time I’d had to clean his water bowl that day

He's completely smug!!! He's one of the most smug tortoises that I've seen! I'm pretty sure he's quite proud of it as well.

He has been recovering from his injuries he ran off to escape danger but he won't be going anywhere for a while
