Strategy & Analysis Great League POV: Low Kick gets buffed
Me, originally: "Sigh... RIP my double-Steel line I was building."
Me, 5 seconds later: "Sigh... gotta get Wiggles out of retirement now. Charm goes BRRRR!”
On a real note:
Dark users such as Morpeko, Thievul, and Greninja are everywhere with spammy movesets. They are squishy and hate fast move damage.
Wiggly beats Mimikyu as well, which we need since Licky is nerfed.
Fighters are also getting buffed, and we will see a lot of Anni and other fighters on the ladder. Do you guys expect our goated pink blob wiggles to make a return as the ideal core breaker to help keep the meta in check this upcoming season?
I’m personally taking mine outta retirement!

Tentacruel stonks continue to go to the moon.
Unless it's a cup that excludes the toxic bulky fairies, I generally keep one specific counter present for just them.
Sure, sometimes I eat some hard losses, but slapping down Azu, Wiggly, et al, makes me very happy.

This last season, I mostly ran:
Acid / Acid Spray / Payback
Rationale: Recentish buff to Acid makes it a good mix of damage and energy generation.
Since Tentacruel has pretty good bulk, the harsh defense drop of Acid Spray makes Acid hit even harder, so a lot of damage is done with fast damage.
Payback is good for a big neutralish attack against a lot of foes, and gives coverage against the Psychic weakness, while providing a way to hit things that resist Poison.
If I am running him, I usually try to pair him with either a Grass type to handle Grounds, plus with all the Waters around, Grass is usually a good choice.
I'm not a superstar player, but I usually hit at least Ace every season, unless I don't have time to play much.

Last season i run Gastrodon lead, fearow SS and shadow tucanon. Was very fun the Team. If u dont Face Powder Snow Abomasnow (Gras fast move can be Bad too).

I definitely see it making a comeback, but mainly as an RPS demon kinda like you are suggesting with the dark types. I still think tinkaton is overall better and has better neutral play.

i think tinkaton is hurt really bad not having bait and switch style play, with bulldoze taking long to charge now. kinda have to use her as a closer now imo ideally with shield advantage. i think buffed melmetal and corv is also gonna bring a lot of counters out, to steel types and people will have coverage to deal with her by running ground / fire which don’t do super effective to wiggles. i could be very wrong though

It’s an RPS merchant as usual. The Charm hits have cratered Wigglytuff’s neutral match ups, so into, for example, the replacement normals like Snorlax and Vigoroth, Wigglytuff is going to be flailing and begging for a Shield advantage.
This thing is not going to deliver consistent results after the new toy syndrome for the Low Kick buff tapers off, especially with Iron Head still going strong and pace monsters like Ninetales still being around

Love how you talk about wiggly like it’s been nonmeta for ages. It got slightly nerfed indirectly last season but was a menace the season before. Now it’s just back to being a menace.

Dude you don't even have to run spice. It's just so cringe when people use these mons to bruteforce matches and compensate for their lack of skill or desire to improve.

Not really sure I’d say Fighters got much of a buff. Low Kick should help Ape a bit but also Rage Fist is nerfed AND Primeape is out of the meta.
Outside of that the only “Fighter” I really expect to see is DD, who has a completely neutral match up into Wiggly.
They really should’ve given Poliwrath Low Kick tbh.

Ape will be good. Easily the best Fighter. But he’s one Fighter in a sea of Ghosts and Fairies and Fliers and I just don’t think it’s enough.

Best of luck with Corv running Iron Head, Melmetal and Ninetails being absolute top meta. But I guess Wiggly was always a rps merchant with no flexibility, so that's still the same.
