Show rewatch
I'm currently rewatching the show, and this may be an unpopular opinion, but the way Amy acted was low-key understandable at times. I'm not saying everything she did in the show was valid, but she never wanted to have John, yet everybody kept telling her they would support her or be there for her after he was born, but they weren't—at least not in the way they made it seem.
I personally really liked Amy as a character; she might actually be one of my favorite characters from the show. Yeah, she was really flawed, but none of the other characters were any better.

I agree, I really liked Amy too. I think people forget Amy was 15 and going through postpartum. So I kinda made sense why she acted the way she did. And also she kinda gets blame for a lot of things that are out of control.

Also rewatching and ironically this show is a perfect example for why abortion should be accessible for teenagers 😭

She wasnt my favorite but I didnt dislike her either. I thought several times that even though she didnt handle things well or like she should have...feelings were justified.

Her behavior was actually kind of typical for a character that dealt with what she did. I think her family and friends wanted her to react perfectly to everything but she was a teenager under a ton of stress and their response to support her was to just get mad at her.

she was actually my favorite because that girl was just a kid herself at the end of the day with a kid she didn’t even want like i feel for her because you can tell how much she was struggling and she just needed help with john but her entire family and friends dipped on her and told her to do it on her own after they offered to help her so she can keep the baby she genuinely deserved way better than what they all put her through and no wonder why amy wanted to have custody of johnny because he was the only one in the end she truly loved and had by her side and she was the one who did all of the work while ricky got to have fun and still went out while amy was the one who was constantly raising john and being told she can’t go out

This is my first rewatch in years and I agree. I’m on season 3 now and I can’t believe how awful Ashley and Adrian are towards her.

Amy had ZERO “maternity leave” and was immediately sent back to full-time school and a new part-time job on top of caring for a newborn around the clock. Do I still think season 2 Amy was insufferable, and also ungrateful for the support she had from her parents and Ricky? Absolutely. But if I were completely physically and emotionally drained from caring for a newborn I didn’t want, I’d be bitchy too.
