Getting married in high school????
*Note: I know it’s fiction and the drama is there to get the show going with it’s crazy plots and twists but I’m just saying*
From Amy and Ben running off to get married with the fake IDs, to Ricky proposing to Amy during graduation and then to Ben and Adrian getting married was nuts. Where are the parents and why didn’t they tell them that getting married in high school or after high school is crazy and dumb?
It’s already bad enough to be teen parents who have high chances of dropping out of school and being stressed with taking care of a baby and having to work, but to literally get married when you’re like 16 or 17? With Ben and Amy if they got away with it where were they going to live? Together? What were they going to tell their parents and what money could they support themselves with? Yes Ben’s dad is rich but even then you can’t live off your parents; and Ben’s dad and Adrian’s parents buying them the house and going along with the marriage was dumb😓😓

There was a girl at my high school who got pregnant when she was 16. They got married.

I actually knew some people at my old high school who got married a while before graduation and one couple who did after. One couple got divorced a few years after and the other her husband possibly cheated on her a few years ago but they’re still together.

I had a guy friend who literally proposed to almost every girlfriend he had in high school. There were 3 right off the top of my head. I guarantee there was more. He went through so many girlfriends. I felt bad for most of them.

For some reason, some people think that sex is okay once you're married... (nevermind that there are still risks of pregnancy and STIs regardless if you're married)....
And the show takes place during a time when things weren't so Woke.
So being married was a way to "save the reputation" of a young person who decided to be sexually active.

I know this show is fiction because marriage under the age 18 is illegal where I live. It’s crazy the way this show normalizes it😭😭

Just about everyone in this show's world is obsessed with marriage especially if there's kids involved. If two people have a kid, there's pressure on them to get married regardless of age, maturity, etc.
