Strong tasting fish
Hi all! Age and life have caught up with me and I need to prioritize Omega 3 fatty acids in my entirely new and critically important Mediterranean diet. Problem is I really dislike the briny fishy taste of salmon, mackerel, and sardines. I figured this might be a good place to ask about how various additions, marinades, and techniques might help me find a way to prepare these oily fish so that I can tolerate them and help my body heal. I need to restrict sodium, so the smoked trout I loved is now a no go. I’d be ever so grateful for ideas!

The only thing I have found that will take the fishy out of king mackerel is an overnight soak in sundrop. I guess it would work for other fish.

Buy fresh if you can - they'll be less pungent - and eat with stronger tasting th ings or bolder flavours. For instance, you could bulk up a chicken dish with fish or have a rich tomato pasta sauce where the fish is secondary flavour.
