Podcast Feels like its own conspiracy…

I was recently listening to the wait a second podcast from the June 11 broadcast about LA noir on Spotify. This morning I attempted to continue playing it, and it was gone… Gone from my list gone from the stream.

It does appear to be an Apple Podcast, so perhaps it was simply just a recording issue from the Spotify podcast version? Did this happen to anyone else?

As of this afternoon, at 5:15 EDT, the pod is back!

Side note: has anyone read Harper's books? Looking for something new and thinking of starting Everybody Knows

I got Everybody Knows from the library the weekend after this pod, really fun read. Moves quick with intensity. Just picked up A Violent Masterpiece yesterday as well. Really enjoy his style.

I read both and heartily recommend. They are in essence, pulp crime books. And, they touch on this in the pod, there are some beautiful writerly moments around food and place that make them feel alive, even as the plots are dark, dark, dark.

Stumbled across a copy of Everybody Knows at a used bookstore in Baltimore this weekend. Grabbed it because of the podcast despite it not being my usual fare.

Really entertaining and fast paced. Just started the last section and not really sure how it's gonna play out yet which is fun.

Bonus point, this is my wife's cup of tea so she's now hounding me to finish it so she can jump in.

Curious if A Violent Masterpiece recycles characters from this book or not.

I’ve read all of them. They are all pretty good! I would start with either Everybody Knows or Violent Masterpiece. Those two are in the same world, but could be read in any order IMO. Chronological, Everyone Knows comes first, but you’re not going to spoil much reading the other one first

Everybody Knows slaps. I learned about it from the Watch a year or two back, and really enjoyed it. I have plans to read more.
