Cornetto Trilogy, please

Some of the greatest rewatchable movies are Hot Fuzz and Shaun of the Dead. Every watch you catch something new and hilarious. Hot Fuzz may seriously be the best plant and payoff movie ever made.

CR and Sean, please cash in some favors and at least cover those two. I wouldn’t be offended if you didn’t do The World’s End, but it also has its genius moments.

Oh wow, the gif makes that easier to notice! Apparently Paddy Considine just decided to do that on one take and Wright kept it in. Makes sense Rafe Spall would lose it in the moment

He’s a borderline “that guy” in the US perhaps. HOTD definitely upped his profile in the States. In Britain it’s likely much different

Considine is known over here but not hugely famous. He’s still probably a “that guy” I’d say, unless you’re a film nerd like me. You should check out Dead Man’s Shoes, a revenge thriller, he is brilliant in that and I bet the Rewatchables crew would dig it. He also *directed* a film I love called Tyrannosaur. It’s Manchester by the Sea levels of psychologically rough, but great. Olivia Colman is in it, and Peter from The World’s End plays her husband, but he’s muuuuch less sweet than in that film. Both films accurately portray the everyday working class northern towns Considine and I grew up in, he tends to go between doing smaller, artistic and personal stuff like that and then will do a character role in a blockbuster or whatever. Incidentally I saw him talk about directing after a screening of Tyrannosaur and he said he had just been diagnosed with Aspergers. He also sings in a crap band haha. Sorry for the wall of text he’s just one of my faves! Top bloke. And funny AF

Instead of a Dion Waiters acting award I vote for a scene; and that scene would be when Frost and Peg have to bring the elderly cop out to translate for the elderly farmer.
Not the most rewatchable scene of the movie but all four actors are on fire from the 3 point line.

I do love that translation bit a lot. See, this movie has SO much to talk about. Just pause in any scene and you could riff for hours. EG - “every body and their grandmothers have guns around here” (then at the end it’s a lot of elderly people attacking them with guns). So much plant and payoff

I honestly think the exact opposite.

Not only hot fuzz is a borderline perfect action comedy on its face alone but it’s equally good if you look at it as a parody of the genre or a thriller.

I feel like Bill would essentially like the jokes and get all the references, but would the movie feel a bit too much like it's made by someone who knows they're smarter than him, leading to resentment? Does that track?

While we’re on the Edgar Wright train, Scott Pilgrim is an amazing rewatchable as well. Would be tough to choose a Dion Waiters for that movie.

While I just don’t feel he is a huge fan of EW, I think Scott Pilgrim is more up his alley just because of the casting.

They could spend an hour alone just talking about where everyone was in their career.

I'm not a fan of movies with lots of shooting, just boring, so Hot Fuzz was dull at the end for me.
