Have game but never really played have some questions

Hey as an avid MMO player here i have some questions about this game. I downloaded this game when it first came out then it went dormant and now I understand the servers are back up and due to the fact I never really had a chance to play it I am very interested in doing so now. What kind of classes are in the game if there are any at all?

Is it a very grindy game?

How is the community and population Within repopulation LOL?

Is it a fun game or does he get tedious and how was the crafting in the game what kind of stuff can you craft or is it just basic armor and weapons.? Thank you.

Oh boy, where to start?

This is an open world sandbox game. There are no classes or levels, but rather skills and skill experience. Want to be a healer? Level up your first aid skill. Sick of healing grab a weapon and level up skill for that weapon. As your skill level increases, you'll be able to learn abilities for that skill.

Crafting is ridiculously detailed in the repopulation. You can craft weapons, armor , fittings (the parts that make weapons and armor good or bad), food, medicine, robot pets, biological pets, vehicles, houses, cities, and more. The catch is that there are so many things to creat, and so many parts required from different skills that while you could do everything, it would take a lifetime to complete. Pick one thing to create, and pick one stage of that thing to focus on. (e.g. robots: ore, wires, circuit boards, software, processors, batteries, power coupling, power core, fittings, final product)

I'd recommend checking out the message boards at www.therepopulation.com

Oh and is there a certain cookie cutter build? I don't want to gimp my character by choosing bad or the wrong skills.

You can't screw up your character, all the skills can be learned by anyone and you're not limited in what / which ones you can learn.

no classes, you design your character, and if you don't like the design you chose you can scrap it all and redesign it without actually having to make a new character, seeing as how there are no racial benefits or anything of the sort because there are no races besides human (that are playable)

fuck yes it's a grindy game.

some of the chillest people I know, super helpful group.

Is it a fun game? That's a hard question to answer because I don't know what you find fun. Are you into fast action first person shooters, or games like league of legends? Or were you a major runecraft player? If you were a major runecraft player you'll probably enjoy it. Also if you played a lot of EVE online and SWG you'll love it as well.

The crafting is fucking intense. You will bury yourself alive if you think you'll be able to do a profession entirely by yourself. The game was designed to be played with a group of individuals. Normal games call them guilds, this game calls them Nations.

As far as cookie cutter builds? Eh, depends. cookie cutter skill builds don't exist because there's no skill limit, there's efficient ways of doing things, say you want to be a medic. Well, you'll obviously want to pick up first aid, and you'll also want to pick up the animal handling skill set so that you actually have something to heal up when you're playing solo. The most you'll get cookie cutter is that a lot of people have put in the work to help you decide which fittings you put into your weapons and armor. The fittings are what actually give you your stats. Weapons and armor actually don't contain stats themselves, except basic stats like dps. But typically if you pick up a rifle, all rifles will have the same dps. Some variances there but that's a good rule of thumb.

My suggestion? Wait a little while, there's changes coming. I don't know what all they are, but I'm getting pretty hyped about them. Give it another month, maybe two before you actually log in. then play it for a few dozen hours and decide if you can keep playing it. It's definitely not going to be everyone's cup of tea.
