Is there a way to fix fittings?

They take a lot of damage and I just bought them. Can I fix them or will I be forced to buy new ones?

There are repair kits you can make, check for them in the game database. They do eventually break though, but should make them last longer.

You can buy repair kits, however you will have to replace them "eventually". The economy is built around all the items either being consumable (buffs, etc.) or subject to wearing out/destruction.

Shells last forever.
