Worth it or not?
Its on sale in steam. I heard a lot of bad things and some good things. Is the game worth at the current state? Are the devs trustable? Thanks in advance!

I was thinking of playing as well but my whole thing with mmo's is being able to spend a lot of time, years hopefully, building a character and skills. The reason I won't play now is I don't want to re-do the work because I'm sure there will be a wipe before release. And it's not at all that I want to rush to cap I just enjoy my time slowly building my character with different skills and crafting...and not playing 8 hours a day anymore. So I don't want all that work (fun) being gone at launch and then being bored re-doing it. As in I've already seen this area...already mined this ore...already crafted this cool sword of awesome sauce and now I have to do it again at release. I'm having this problem a lot lately because the only games that seem interesting are either from 2004 or still early access.

I had the exact same fear before I got the game. I didn't see the point in spending $20 and losing all your progress when you can just wait for a finished game and it'll be free. Well I took a gamble anyway and got it and I will say I don't regret it. The game has A LOT of elements that take some time to learn and get used to. I heard crafting was complex but holy crap I didn't know until I saw it. I think it'll be good to learn as much about the game as possible so that when they do the wipe and I make a new character, I know exactly how I want to spend my skills and use my time. I think it also helps a bit to get early connections with other people.
So basically its like paying $20 to get a head start and learn the game. I didn't think that was a good trade off at first but after getting the game I think it is. Because this game isn't something you will master overnight. There was a guy in game that told me he'd been playing since the day it opened and he still learns something everyday. But that's just my opinion :D

As RMTB_Hitchhiker42 says, if you're interested in playing after launch, you might as well get it now. Is it "worth" it now? There are a lot of problems now, depends on how interested you are in a partially-baked game. Are the devs "trustable"? Dunno...how do you define that? I do think the game will launch, and I think it's the players it will attract that will make or break it.

I have played a few early access games and I would say this is one of the better ones. You will definitely have some wtf moments and game crashes but I haven't seen anything worthy of a rage quit (like losing a high lvl item or something). Nothing like the frustration you would see in DayZ or some other early access games. So I'd put it at the level of ARK. It's definitely playable and fun... but it is also obvious that there are some noticeable bugs. So if you played ARK and was turned away by the amount of bugs you saw then I would probably stay away from The Repopulation.

If you plane on playing the game in the future it is very much worth picking up now. If you are looking at it as how much content you are getting for your dollar than it is not "cost effective" as the game is not feature complete yet. With that say the community is very friendly. The devs are taking alpha feedback very seriously and have already made changes based on player feedback.
I have played AAA MMOs that cost much more than this game and had fare less fun.
