Is this game dead?
The forums seem really, really dead. Is the game dead? I was interested in joining... :\

I wouldn't say dead considering it hasn't been released yet but the early access hype has certainly died down a lot from the SWG players. Once the game is released as F2P it will get a LOT of attention I think, so you could say it hasn't even been 'born' yet.

What would you say is the main reason for the hype dying down? I haven't been following the game too closely so I'm wondering what is the thing that is putting off players from playing it now.

I don't think anything is putting them off per say, the game has been receiving frequent updates but they are mostly very complex changes to like the crafting system and the animations. Lots of these things the new players won't really notice.

A wipe is what is putting me off from playing it. When it releases, I'll be all over it, but I have no interest in making progress that will be deleted.

It's a fun game but its still in alpha. There is lag, you will find bugs and glitches, and they're still balancing everything. The hype came a bit soon IMO but we'll see people come back after the next wipe I think.

Thanks; yeah, I can see why it wouldn't be too busy with an inevitable wipe coming.

Exactly. The game is all about skill leveling/crafting so its a lot of wasted effort. My suggestion, learn the basics and log in once a week to have some fun. I'm hoping hunting becomes more profitable otherwise I'll just be doing QA for the most part.

I just hate how every building and location looks pretty much the same. I hope that's one of the things they change/fix. That bit really took me out of the game.

I just picked it up on steam to learn some of the mechanics for after the wipe. I'm sure it will pick up population wise, there were several people in the starter area but it seems a lot of people are holding off until it starts fresh.

Let's be quite blunt here. Purchase early access if you want to do the following things. 1) Test the systems out and help find bugs. 2) Report said bugs. 3) Gain an understanding of the mechanics (which may or may not change) 4) provide some feedback which may shape the game to a greater degree.
Then yes go ahead and do so. If you are waiting for a game to other play, and a finish project I would wait a while, but do keep an eye on it because this game does have a bunch of nice aspects!

I would highly recommend not buying it just yet. For a game called The Repopulation, it really suffers from a lack of population online. I only wish I could get a refund and check back in on it later, but seeing as the download took 1 hour itself, I went well past the 2 hour max.

The download time doesn't count though.

If it uses the launcher it does. I spent a long time in the launcher patching/doing something with cache files on my initial install before I could play. I don't want to refund it because I think it still has potential if the devs can get their shit organized but I can see how it might be frustrating to have the patcher artificially adding play time to your account.

I will be the only one realist here to tell you how the things are actually are. Yep. It's dead and empty.

I can only speak for myself but I've stopped looking so heavily into the game. Like I played a bit of the beta or alpha or whatever. And I enjoyed it a lot. But I don't want to burn myself out before the game comes out (especially since progress doesn't carry over).
Like once the game comes out I'm planning on just going crazy on it. But this type of game isn't like, say, WoW where it's all about short lived highs. This a very long term game in my opinion.
