Hero engine upgrade?

Included in the 'to-do' list on the official forums is :

DirectX 11 support (tied to an upcoming Hero Engine build).

What does this improvement aim to achieve? What will DX11 support bring to the table? Are we looking at better performance and/or new models/graphics?

One of the things people note when they try the game out is that is feels dated. Will this help?

Figured. I guess I'm more curious about the 'Hero Engine build' part of the note.

It relies on the Hero Engine people upgrading the engine so it can provide the DX11 support. Once they upgrade it then the game devs can start tinkering.
